Pool 3 in 18s seems like the hardest pool. Yorktown and Future are both stacked and then just throw in probably the best player in the country with Sani on St James. Pool 5 also looks like it could be very competitive.

Questions for those that have seen more bid tourneys than I have:
1. Canadian teams don't (or can't?) accept bids, correct?
2. When trickle down comes into play, will tourneys add more playoff games to ensure bids are awarded?
Both could impact 16s, in silver, so as a "process geek," I'm curious.
(NB: At JBI, a 14 USA bid was not awarded as B2b 13 declined it after winning)

Questions for those that have seen more bid tourneys than I have: 1. Canadian teams don't (or can't?) accept bids, correct? The assumption would have to be that Canadians teams CAN and WILL accept Open Bids. Why would they be allowed to play if they couldn't. However, They 90% of the time elect NOT to accept a bid. Plan as if they will and always be ready if they decline for trickle downs.

Thanks - I've only been following ardently for the last year, and I don't believe there was a Canadian team that accepted a bid last year. But that leads into the second question, particularly since Gold (6 teams) won't be determined until Monday morning. Silver (also 6 teams) only has a 3rd place match on AES (required for the 9th bid): Do Tourneys add playoff games on day 3 when bids are at stake? If so, how long do they have to do it?

If there is a weird circumstance that a playoff needs to occur for a bid to be awarded, the tournament director will create a bid bracket separately the day of. This has occurred in the past, however there were times the teams had to wait 4 hours to play that bid match due to the schedule of the day having to take place first.

In my experience, yes. In the past, often by the final day, even before it begins you will have to sign a declaration of accepting a potential bid or not. Therefore everyone knows where they stand as they go into the deciding days. If you look at the flow chart of tourneys they will describe the trajectory of play and some or most possibilities. I don't know the exact trickle down for every tourney but I have seen them go down into the Silver in tourneys. Also I would expect to be asked to play a match to decide exact position even if you get knocked out of tourney. Some coaches/teams forfeit this match, some play to get more in, some coaches elect not (both sides) to play due to injuries, flights, or weather, however if there is important seeding implications or a Bid at stake you have to and want to play (unless the other team scraps it.....and Always make sure that is noted) Here is an example: www.pacebootlegger.com/application/files/9715/7910/3406/Can-Am_2020_Flow.pdfNot sure if I answered your question. Good Luck

Looks interesting. Whoever seeded 16s put some thought into it, and it looks good overall, but... SAS-2s getting a 1 seed seems off (it may not be!) I would say that SAS second team looks really off. I feel bad for 352 and HP STl because they may get the K2C2 team on Day 2 if they fail to take out Vaqueros (went three last meeting) HP STl beat K2C2 in Lafata Open Finals the other year, but all key K2C2 players are back and they have added two of the best offensive players you will find on any 16 Open team at Chicago.

There's no flow posted, but it's not tough to figure out the trajectory of play. I kind of expect some "weirdness," dictated by the small gold / silver fields, combined with the two teams with bids already and 2 Canadian teams with 1 seeds, and (again, as a process geek), I was curious how it could play out, as I watch from afar. HP STl beat K2C2 in Lafata Open Finals the other year, but all key K2C2 players are back and they have added two of the best offensive players you will find on any 16 Open team at Chicago. I didn't see that either club fielded a 15s team last year (Vaqueros did, and were impressive on the court, far less so off), nor did I see a match between them as 14s or 16s in last years LaFata? HP STL was pretty impressive out here in Anaheim, though, and 352 is always a solid bet.

Whatever their nationals equivalent is. I think Baja (Mexico) has accepted bids in the past, but I could be wrong.

It all depends on the Calendar. We have plenty of Canadian teams who take bids in Rochester and Bane and didn't some take the bid in California one year? This year it looks like their qualifiers are over top of the popular qualifiers they attend and will not make the trip this year. I expect a lot of them to be in pittsburgh for HP. Yes our pool looks fun!! Pool of the big outside!! WOW. Fun times Saturday

Yorktowne beat St. James pretty convincingly in 2 sets (25-16, 25-17) at the finals of the KRVA Rally in December. Still can never rule out St. James and Sani (their new facility is amazing btw), don't think EXCEL Red is much of a factor in this pool.
