From what I understand, they’re more willing to pay this time around Willing to sweeten it some compared to the last go around? Sure, I can see that happening. Willing to really pony up for a splash hire? I dunno, the athletic department’s budget isn’t in a happy place right now, and things might very well get worse before they get better. There are some donors prepared to specifically donate to make sure they can get a good hire for volleyball. Enough to get the right person. Now it is up to the department to decide how they are going to handle it.

Jonathan Van Ness? American hairstylist and television personality? Who the heck is JVN? My bad...fat fingers. Left out a J. JJ VN as in the current Assoc HC. JJ is primed for a shot to prove he can handle the bright lights. He's busy applying elsewhere.

Fisher checks every box but also notches "didn't take the job last time" and "just got extended." Bad luck for the Trojans, he's theoretically the perfect guy.

I wonder what kind of buyouts volleyball contracts have. In football and men's basketball, schools protect themselves from coaches bouncing for a better job with exorbitant buyouts (and similarly, the coaches protect themselves from early termination). Expensive buyouts are part of the reason Steve Alford stayed at UCLA as long as he did and also that UCLA then missed out on hiring Jamie Dixon (the donors balked at paying his buyout from TCU). I would hope that Pittsburgh did its due diligence and protected itself. But if it didn't, and the contact has a paltry buyout, USC (or someone else) could in theory still swoop in.

I would be utterly shocked if it was Fisher. They won't be able to afford him and I'm guessing there's still some hard feelings over it not working out last time.

what about USA staff who would have just a short move?
Luka Slabe? Mike Wall?
...Jamie Morrison?
I think Virtue is a great candidate for many jobs but don't see her wanting this.

Is the chewing gum allowance high enough to lure Tom Black out of Athens?

He's the perfect candidate in terms of who they would want as a coach. No way it happens though.

I wouldn't mind stealing a coach from Alabama myself, Keylor Chan (Samford).
Obviously not at the top of my list, but SC is not going to get KBB, Fisher, or whoever.
Maybe Daganeis or Alvey would be nice!
