I had to vote for the retired coach option, not because I think it will happen, but because of the excellent use of the word "duped."

It would help to know what kind of leverage USC has right now - given everything that's happened, the lawsuits, the shakeup at the top, can they go "big" with their offer? That obviously greatly affects the pool of potential candidates.

That obviously greatly affects the pool of potential candidates. Even if they can make a big offer, the general uncertainty and turmoil around the program likely makes it less attractive than it otherwise would be.

Baylor pays its head coaches in all sports extremely well. Unless, McGuyre is willing to take a pay cut, he won't even give USC a sniff.

I don't think it is. Baylor is a Final Four and national title contender again for 2020. Can't see McGuyre bailing on that chance to go to a program that is marginal Top 32. Tough to predict the programs' potential for 2021 and beyond at the moment. But, I think USC is the easier school to recruit to compared to Baylor.

USC better being willing to pay up. Unlikely. Which is why you and I both know, the likeliness of USC screwing up yet another hire in athletics, is very high!
