He's been writing about it from the start. I think he's done a really good job.
I would argue that he presented many constructive plans for the future (and that his criticisms were valid -- and not just directed at Trump).

I also think his "liberal perspective" is based on what happened, rather than simply forming the framework for his interpretation. One man's "bias" is another man's rational interpretation. The one thing I hope we can agree on is that he is no "hack." I thought Young (based only on this article) is credible. I think he hit on many of the issues that caused problems. The 1st couple paragraphs (before he gets into the meat and trying to summarize) was overly 'political' and biased. Like most people - he highlighted what he believes to be the major issues (Trump, Capitalism, US Health System, Racial Inequality) without really giving a balanced perspective of COVID. I right leaning journalist or relying on expert opinions would do the same thing. My preference is reading someone that really tries to look at this from multiple sides with constructive plans for the future. Who are you reading about this stuff?

Wow. You're really getting worked up now. Worked up? Nope, I am having a laugh. I am enjoying this. Seriously, I haven't had this much fun with a poster since holiday. So please, don't stop, go on and on and on. I love this. 3,2,1, retarded response from cutshot: Aww....man. Totally missed my cue. It was getting late and you were really starting to drone on and on and on. Anyway, I dozed off at the computer - face in the keyboard and drool everywhere. The whole nine yards. Tell you what, sparky. Count me in again with your typical smartass retort and I will respond back with my usual witty and more-than-slightly condescending reply to you.

My preference is reading someone that really tries to look at this from multiple sides with constructive plans for the future. This is usually a terrible idea. Instead of reading people who present "multiple sides", it is better to read multiple people who each present their own "side".

The idea that authors can't have an opinion is bad -- or that ones who don't have opinions are better -- is something I've never understood. If Yong were blatantly biased to the point he was making stuff up? OK. If he is making arguments based on facts? Good for him.

I am not sure there is anyone - or it is too hard to find. I kind of think Nate Silver can cut through some of the crap. I have become suspicious of just about anything at this point.

I don't think it is a terrible idea to read stuff that looks at all sides - I think it is a very good thing. Only reading stuff that is looking at all sides may be a terrible idea. And reading multiple sides is good.

I would argue that he presented many constructive plans for the future (and that his criticisms were valid -- and not just directed at Trump). This is valid. I just think it isn't comprehensive. I am not saying it doesn't have a place or that it is peddling false claims. I am saying that his analysis represents a specific liberal perspective that is created by highlighting data/reasons he agrees with and ignoring things that may lead to a different outcome (opinion). If we were doing a debate - he is using facts to support his position that he is defending. This has a place. I have a preference where someone appears to be taking facts that lead to a more complex overall opinion that may not fit their preconceived ideas.

I think I asked this a few days ago, but do you think the American response has been good?

I think the US response has been a mixed bag. I think the lack of preparedness doesn't surprise me and is likely to have occurred regardless who was the President. I think Trump's messaging hasn't been good - and this is important, but I think his actions (policy if you will) has been mostly appropriate. I think the Feds have done a good job trying to balance the complete shutdown vs. keeping things normal factions in this country. The shutdown in mid March was appropriate until we could ramp up testing. I think the reopening's were done mostly correctly and dependent on Governors. I think the American people have done much better than expected.
From my understanding - the progress on vaccines and ways to mitigate deaths and hospitals has been very good or very encouraging.
Mistakes were made - we have learned as we have gone. But mistakes were likely going to be made with this. And there remains today a huge divide among experts on the appropriate action going forward. Take something like opening up K-6 school. This is something where clearly experts do not agree - and their disagreement leaves virtually zero common ground. How do you proceed with something like this? There have been many of these kinds of things along the way - such as when and how places should open. For me - I think the US is so large and diverse, that leaving much of these decisions to the States is the best option. To unilaterally determine for each state or locations in each state one solution is automatically going to piss off many of the 'experts' and in turn those people that follow them. It would have been nice if Trump would/could convey that message better...

If you can't stand the fire, stay out of the kitchen. Right on cue, your idiotic response. So predictable. I can jerk you around you wouldn't even know it. Hehehe. This is so much fun. A word of advice, next time, don't make stupid posts and you won't be ridiculed.

If the cue was "okay, rest 16 bars during the instrumental solo, and then wait 10 hours, and come in at the top of the bridge verse". (That's a music joke, btw. Are you musical? You don't seem musical. I dunno maybe you played the recorder in 4th grade, who knows?) But yeah, I was hoping you'd give me the 3..2..1... count in again, but oh well. I'll let you go now, you seem really stressed. Like, you're typing all these "hehehe's" and "this is so much fun" things in your responses but it doesn't hide all the vitriol and malice and just sheer frustration in your posts. This must be your mean, nasty, attack dog persona login. Oh well, I digress. I'll still make a ton of posts here. Smart, researched posts. Stupid posts. All kinds of posts. Ridicule away. At least if you got the crosshairs on me, you'll leave holidayhusker alone for awhile. Or maybe one of your other board personas will go after him. I dunno, seems like alot of work. Trying to organize all your different logins and fake personalities and "who is attacking cutshot" vs. "who is attacking holiday" vs. "who is attacking daryldearman" vs. "who is attacking <insert other conservative viewpoint here>". Don't overwork yourself, bro.

And if it ticks you off so much you just have to reply, so much the better. You really are imagining things too much. Stressed? Honestly, I haven't had this much fun a long while. Thanks for the entertainment. Mocking you makes me feel relaxed. If you won't stop, then I won't stop. Simple as that. And I could go on and on. I know, you've had enough and is looking for a face-saving way to exit with your tail between your legs. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. P.S-Oh, you bet I will go after holiday if he steps out of line, I always do, don't be naive.
