I hardly ever get sick.
When I was a baby, my parents told me I was on the verge of death. Around that time, my dad was also sick. One day, he was carrying me on his back and he fell backward due to dizziness (caused by high fever), landing on top of me. My mom noticed what had happened, quickly ran over, kicked my dad off me (LITERALLY!), and took me to the hospital, while my dad was still unconscious on the floor. LOL! I had some bruising from the fall plus some sort of mysterious bug. They said I was 50-50 for several weeks. They were even talking to funeral parlours to get details on what exactly baby funerals entailed. Anyway, I got past that stage and ever since then, I was rarely sick, while my brother and sister got sick seasonally, like other kids. Not me. I had that one scare and that was it.

I was very sick last week. Fever for three days, coughing ("productive"), etc. I don't know if I had "the" coronavirus but I was pretty sure I had something like it. I was going to go to the doctor on the third day of my fever, except between 5am when I made that decision and 9am when I woke up again, my fever finally broke. I had been avoiding going to the doctor in large part because I didn't want to drive myself and I didn't want to expose my parents (who had offered to drive me). Also: Sorry to hear you’re not well. You can and perhaps should connect with your physician over the phone or by email ( many practices have secured online communication) It would give you an opportunity to discuss your symptoms and plan of care as well as what to look out for as it seems that this particular virus can progress to pneumonia in the second week. Take care of yourself Mike and thanks for staying home when sick but remember no man is an island and like wild says we want you around .

Still weak, but my fever was Sunday-Tues last week. After that it was all just recovery. Mainly lots of sleeping.

Well...apparently the Italians are outraged that the French, or a French TV channel to be precise, has made a satire on their coronavirus outbreak. The satire involves a false ad where a sick Italian chef cough his infected mucus on the pizza he is making, and calling it the "Corona Pizza" exporting Italy to the World (Italy is the most affected European country). The clip in question can be found in the article below: www.thelocal.it/20200303/italian-ministers-furious-at-french-coronavirus-pizza-jokeBut what do you think? Disgusting and in bad taste? Or a little too sensitive on the part of the Italians?

So we live pretty much equal distance from Evergreen hospital and the nursing home. The schools in our district are now closed. My neighbors who work for Amazon Microsoft etc are self quarantining and working from home- wondering how to get hand sanitizer masks and do you trust food delivery? Meanwhile my husband and neighbors who are that are fireman, police and nurses are working as per usual but more carefully. The priest at my parish is now also under quarantine as he went to give last rites to one of the patients who died. We are deep cleaning the parish campus the next two days so we can have Mass come Sunday. As an introverted extrovert I alternate between compassion for this that are so anxious and relief that at least for now they are out of the way. Keep calm and wash your hands!

We were told that if we can work at home, we are allowed to (with the permission of our managers).

How you resting as it seems that post was in the middle of the night? Interesting I am recently retired something planned for a while. It’s been such a strange transition as our hospital with negotiations going nowhere for a year went out on strike and then was in lockout . During that time I was not able to schedule or communicate with my manager about my shifts through the end of the March as that was the exact time my grouping was scheduled to self schedule Long story short after several failed attempts husband and I said well what difference will a few weeks make ? Tbh I am still on the text for the unit for short staffing due to sick etc. and have not called to remind them I am now retired because I find it interesting. It actually is better than it was for the past several months. This has alleviated my Catholic guilt somewhat

Amherst is the first of what will be many schools (I think) shutting down once students head off for Spring Break. They know they can't control what their student body would bring back.
