Most teams tryouts are done and teams are getting finalized.
IHSA has canceled the winter sports finals that haven't finished due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Has any High School's boys volleyball or other spring seasons been suspended / delayed / canceled?
Assuming that at least some portion of the season if not all of the season is played, who are the teams to beat?

Well like 8 states and 2-4 partially have shut down their whole school systems. More to follow I'm sure

I did heard a rumor that some of the Chicago Private schools were closed? I am not 100% sure if that's true though. As far as the teams in Southern Illinois, O'Fallon and Edwardsville are typically pretty good but I don't think they're good enough to beat the teams in the Chicago area.
I coach in St. Louis, Missouri and the last thing I was told by my AD was that some of the public schools may move to online classes but it's TBD on whether the spring sports will continue to be allowed to practice and play games. The state basketball tournament for Missouri is still happening as of now but only school officials are allowed to attend.
With the two states sharing a border I am scared Missouri will follow whatever Illinois does.

For now, New York is allowing individual conferences and local health mandates to determine when and if spring sports will be played. Some leagues are postponed through April 30th, others indefinitely, some not at all. Practices are up to the school's discretion, I don't know of any continuing to practice. Not looking good, although downstate NY is currently facing major community spread.

Last night the majority of all Missouri High Schools in the STL area announced they are closed until April 3rd. All activities are also suspended at this time. I read they will have the intent to play a postseason but other than that there's no solid plans for how the season might go if/when the kids return to school.
Anyone know for sure what Illinois is doing for their spring sports?

I read they will have the intent to play a postseason but other than that there's no solid plans for how the season might go if/when the kids return to school. Anyone know for sure what Illinois is doing for their spring sports? It appears that IHSA has stopped short of postponing / canceling spring sporting events at this time. However, most school districts have appeared to cancel all sports events during the two week mandated closing from the governor. Our school district has canceled all sporting activity including practices. There was language in some of the notices indicating it would be a violation of the IHSA bylaws for the student athlete to practice with their club team during this break. If the student athlete practices with their club team, they may be ruled ineligible for the IHSA Season. It doesn't say anything about practicing at their club facility individually, with one or more other members of the club team (not the whole team) or with their club coaches (Lessons). So, I have some honest questions as it pertains to the IHSA eligibility of a student athlete. 1) Can their school team practice on their own without the coach at their school or neutral facility? Can the student athlete work out / practice at the club facility at all with our without their club coach present? Can some members of their club team choose to work out together?

Looks like the IHSA is considering postponing all Fall and Winter "contact" sports and considering a modified schedule and run all IHSA contact sports from Jan 2021 through Mid June 2021. It would mean all sports get to play, but would be shorter seasons for all contact sports including volleyball.
Per Michael O'Brien @michaelsobrien Girls Volleyball "Spring 1" March 1 - April 23 Boys Vollybal "Spring 2" April 12 - 2 June 11th
This means coaches that coaches that happen to coach both boys and girls volleyball would have a confict and would rely on Assitant Coaches. It would also mean both boys and girls would get about 6 weeks less HS Volleyball. It may make it dificult to schedule weekend multi-team tournaments for both boys and girls teams.
IHSA is going to defer to the IDPH and the ISBE for guidance and will participate in a meeting with them today. IHSA has a board meeting 7/29.
How would this impact Girls Club season? I guess it would be similar to the way boys club season works in IL with a break in the middle. Would boys club season extend through March?

This means that in Illinois boys and girls club seasons will run from Sept 1 to the start of their respective HS seasons and then resume after. The boys summer club season will only be delayed 6 days since it was scheduled to end on June 5th. They will have a few days less to train for Nationals, if their would be a 2021 Nationals anyways. Big issue would be scheduling local tournaments for boys and girls in the Fall/Winter due to location limitations. Also, look for clubs that have their own facilities to thrive financially. Maybe a few club coach issues. But the numbers of boys playing will get smaller and smaller with no 2020 high school season. Major entry to the sport was missed due to freshmen year cancellation.

IHSA moved Boys Volleyball to a "summer" season starting May 3 through June 26th 2021. Girls will be moved from the fall to a "spring Season" Feb 15 - May 1, 2021.
Assuming USAV Boys Junior Nationals happens, it would be the week after the IHSA Boys season ends with little time to practice as a club team. Saw some articles that IHSA is considering allowing club play during the IHSA Season. Not sure there would be enough time or energy to do both.

It will be interesting to see how that plays out. I can't imagine a lot of big HS tournaments happening as they did before due to schedules not necessarily syncing up.
