Gibb is better than Chase right now. Will that last another 15 months? Who knows. Interesting call for Taylor. I think a switch he might be more likely to make is if Tri called him. That way he doesnt have to play a bunch of Qs with a world tour neophyte who isnt used to the athleticism at that level. Chase has better size than Tri but other than that I think Tri is probably better at everything I think Tri or Trevor giving Taylor a call is the only possible scenario where Cribb potentially splits (barring an injury I don’t see Gibb declining in 15 months). T2 are solidly both players best shot plus I think they both believe that split blocking is their best shot I have a hard time seeing them bail either. As for team Cha Cha, they like every major pairing is in it for their next possible Olympics.... until a better option comes along. Im not so sure about Chaim. Switching citizenship is the only reason he wasnt in the mix this time. With qualification now a possibility I am sure he is at least making calles. Also Gibb is 44. He will absolutely decline over the next 15 months, there has never been an athlete who didnt. How much is the only question

It seems to me that there are basically three options at this point:
1) Top 12 finishes, but extend the qualification period to 2021. 2) Top 12 finishes, extending the qualification period to 2021, but eliminate any points earned in 2018. 3) Start over from scratch with a new qualification period of 2020-2021. Maybe only take the top 6 finishes since there will likely be fewer events. Of course, existing entry points will still be important for getting into these events.
This assumes that bids already earned via World Champs and the Haiyang Qualification Tournament will still count. Also, if they go with either of the first two options, they'll likely keep the star system around through 2021. With the third option, they can scrap the star system right away and immediately go with the three levels of events that were already planned for 2021.

With news this has been pushed to 2021, do we expect Taylor to grab Chase? Another year not good for older players like Jake. Pushed to 2021? Better watch out for the eventual 2021 world champs Lee/Priddy! Underrated comment!

Kerri and Brooke are not splitting up. Sorry to all that want to see them break apart. Everyone else will see what the new rules are and react accordingly

And women's discussion brings the thread to its knees.

Sara Hughes. I would think Sara isn’t too upset with the postponement of the olympics to 2021...? I feel for all players, men and women. Do Kerri and Brooke continue together? Sarah and Kelly? Don’t see a change between April and Alix. Betsi. Kelley. Lauren. Summer. Etc... Will there be any FIVB tournaments in 2020? I would think that also plays a factor on whether partner changes happen - will there be sufficient tournaments to gain points? Going to be an interesting 12-16 months to come. Everyone is going to stay where they are. The only question is Hughes. Her and Summer are done. Really done. A miracle would only bring them together. Summer committed to AVP this year. So...she has Lauren and what other option? After this quad the FIVB is going to 2 divisions. The top 30 and then developmental 30. Betsi and all the rest that haven’t won internationally go into developmental.

*if Phil is still committed. If not, well, there isn’t much of a race.

I know Summer was hurt, but with more time now (maybe), why would they not give it another shot? seems like Summer would be the best option at this point.

A good reason why the players shouldnt have much say in a process that has already begun. They will almost all just vote/advocate for whatever suits them best

Summer basically just stopped playing and ghosted Hughes. Saying all this stuff about her back injury and never showed Sara or USA beach any medical records and then vanished on Hughes while threatening lawsuits. Everyone is aware that summer is different. Let’s leave it there. Would you risk her quitting on you twice?
