Best decision for all involved. I think we're in much better shape on the men's side than the women's in terms of having this break and still being able to return our vets in 2021.
I think Anderson and Holt have it in them to still play at a high level next year with this potentially being their last Olympics. This is also a great opportunity to get Sander and Jaeschke fully healed along with a few of our injured MBs. Hopefully E. Shoji stays healthy.
Wondering if K. Shoji stays. I'd love him to -- his leadership and ability to come in when Christensen is having an off game is vital. Looking forward to Ma'a becoming that guy but, in terms of us pushing for a medal, I think Shoji is the back up setter. But hey, willing to be wrong.

Health wise, this is great news for the US as it stands today. Who knows what happens in 16 months. Giving Sander and Jaeschke another year removed from their surgeries will benefit the team. Considering Ma’a was making his way on to final rosters last summer and K Shoji was not, and now adding another year, I’m thinking Ma’a will be backup setter in 2021. Fingers crossed that Holt and Anderson stick around. They’re both too good yet to hang it up due to a one year delay.

The Men will benefit from an extra year.
For the excellent reasons above and an extra year of development for our #2 setter and the opposite position.
Having months off to rest these guys bodies is welcomed considering their schedules the past years however, I wish I had a gym, cabins and weight room somewhere in the desert or mountains where the team could be totally isolated to get a good 2 months in weightlifting and strength building.
They really will have to be creative in this area over the next months on their own.
The Olympics would have been a disaster for all involved and at least 1/3 of the athletes hadn't qualifed yet. So glad it was cancelled.
Stay safe people....this is nasty dangerous virus we are facing and the USA is the new epicenter. Be diligent, informed and yes aggressive with the naysayers out there. 🤙💪

This article has reaction from the VB players from Chicago (Robinson, Carlini, Jaeschke) and Jaeschke said he knows of players that wanted to retire after Tokyo2020 and not play overseas again. Will be interesting to monitor who may be in or out for 2021. Also, maybe it’s taken out of context but final squad could still be decided in June?? That makes zero sense. www.dailyherald.com/amp-article/20200324/sports/200329547/

I’m glad it got postponed! After all this coronavirus thing has passed, does the pro season start again? Do you think any US college senior men’s players is good enough to try out for US Olympic team?

I would assume Anderson, Smith, and K. Shoji would have been done after this summer (there might even be more). I am not sure what that will mean now. It looks like Smith is still workig hard to keep himself in shape, so that might be telling. Another thing to look at is if there will be any players going overseas next year. I have read models that show a fall resurgence of this virus, and while the peak may be over, it may still be quite rampant.
I am a huge fan of K. Shoji, but looking at playing time and performance this shortened season, it would not surprise me if Ma'a moves himself into that spot. Shoji will not be back at Resovia next year and Ma'a may have played himself into a better league (if they do play next season).
