One other major difference in favor of the Swedes is they eat a lot of those Swedish fish. I don't know if this was intended to be funny but this was hilarious. I recall a film (Swedish? German? Norwegian?) where a woman dies from eating lots and lots of disgusting salted (or pickled) herring. Can't remember the film title. Maybe The Tin Drum?

Cloth masks are certainly less effective than surgical masks or N95s, but they still are more beneficial than nothing. Surgical masks are no more effective against viruses than your average homemade cloth mask. And all masks become quickly comprised the longer the user wears it. Masks are meant to put on and leave on. Constant on/off allows the fingers to contaminate the mask surface that then becomes a means of constantly pulling breathing air across the contaminated mask surface that to begin with was incapable of stopping the virus due to its porosity. But if it makes you feel better, knock yourself out. Surgical masks are about 75% as effective as N95s, and cloth masks vary between 35-75% effectiveness. 1 CDC recommendations say you should wash cloth masks after each use or at least frequently. 2 Me and my family have been doing that as well as wiping down any contaminated surfaces after we go out. Wearing masks both helps stop the spread and makes people more aware of their hygiene practices. There's a reason it's recommended. 1 www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.04.17.20069567v22 www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/diy-cloth-face-coverings.html

I have been watching Sweden closely. They implement a model we could consider in the future: social distancing to some degree, wearing mask if possible, and volunteering isolation for high risk group. I hope we will have better testing/tracing than Sweden. They only test people who are sick. They do have a high death rate 12.3% and number of death per million population. They mandate gathering less than 50 people. No such thing as AAU tournament for sure. Over half of Sweden’s houses are single-person dwellings. That’s a huge difference between us and them that allows a built-in distancing. Also, their people have proven to be much more responsible. They also typically are nude all day every day inside their houses, that might be another factor.
