I spoke to an agent who said Rattray and Huhmann were the only American NCAA players going pro. They said all of the ones who are likely to play pro have decided to stay NCAA this year.
So if someone is not playing a fifth year, that means they are starting their post-vb careers.

So, any word on Staddick and Kam? I don't think I've seen them mentioned in this thread and Kam hasn't mentioned anything in his IG.

Stadick is back and Kam is out. Source on Stadick? based on all tallvolley's other posts I would believe them. guessing a team parent or someone very close to the program.

It seems like this 5th year return decision by athletes may not turn out like a great idea after all. The way things are looking, shortened schedules likely, only playing teams within driving distance for many schools, tight budgets, etc Maybe no NCAA championship tournament Just a conference one...
You’re spending Fall Online classes anyways for most places.
If you were actually on campus Fall you’d be working out a few days a week M T Th Fri about 12 hrs (maybe they finish their missing credits and can be done vs someone starting grad school) and it’s a risk for anyone with so many variables.
I can see guys returning for those 3 Top teams that were all pretty close. Other than that, I’m not sure this is shaping up to be a great idea to come back another year.
If the incoming Freshman class has less $ to divide scholarships due to a returning 5th yr starter, are coaches telling them they’ll get more next season, which would maybe mean less $ for the following Freshman class. Anyone have insight on this?

This seems like the best reason to return - came in as a grad transfer last season and gets his 2nd yr as a grad student with athletic $. Does this only work for certain graduate degrees like English, maybe MBA ( lots of group projects)? Others that require a lot of labs, Physical Therapy degree, etc seem like very unlikely you could be an athlete as a grad student?

Anyone have insight on this? This upcoming season may be shot anyways. For example, Loyola University just announced no residence halls open for the fall semester. So if you are not living off-campus you are most likely living at home. I think they have 10 incoming freshmen. I highly doubt they are living off-campus as freshmen. That means no or severely limited fall training for Loyola. As far as $, the 20-21 season has no affect on the players returning from the Covid cancelled season. The exhausted NCAA eligibility athlete's money does not count against the 4.5 max scholarships this season unless they transferred schools. The incoming freshmen in the class of 2020 are not affected at all. What will become more interesting is the 2021-2022 season if this upcoming season is cancelled or severely limited. That will lead to ripple effects based on athletic eligibility and scholarship money available. This could turn into a real cluster **** for the current athletes and the recruiting classes of 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 classes. You may even see a number of schools drop the sport due to the financial impact alone. Guess it is a good time to really focus on academics and a possible career outside volleyball.

So are we to assume that there will be no NCAA Men's Volleyball Championships this year?
Will the redshirt freshman from last year still have 4 years of eligibility for the 2021-2022 season?
On the positive side BYU players won't have an age advantage if players use all their eligibility.
