Survivor Season 36: Ghost Island In the middle of it, two votes past the merge. So many hidden idols, so many not played. The curse remains...
Has this game become a little lame? Lots of blindsides, and the reaction has always been "Well played"....pffffpt! Right now its all herd mentality...everyone votes for one person. No one is willing to make the big move yet. But then, too many idols so big moves can backfire.

Have there been any other prominent volleyballers on Survivor besides JP Calderon of Season 13/Cook Islands?

Ghost Island is probably one of my least favorite seasons ever. The pre merge was enjoyable but the merge was hell.

Just got to the merge in China, and I have to say that poor Aaron may have been the victim of the worst tribe swap I have ever seen. At least when it happened to Sandra in Game Changers, it was just bad luck, and she had already won twice. She wasn't hand selected for elimination like Aaron (his new tribe then proceeded to throw the next immunity challenge, giggling as they did it, just so that they could vote him off).

The pre merge was enjoyable but the merge was hell. OK, so it isn't just me. About 2/3 thru the season...just not so exciting. But it does help me get through 30min of elliptical exercises every day. I don't know about prominent - Laurel Johnson played 4 years of VB at Yale (2006-2009) and was on Season 36/Ghost Island. She went much farther than JP. Had wondered about her. She and Chris got into a conversation about vb very briefly, and I missed what was said other than Chris boasting how athletic he was. But Laurel is quite the stud in challenges.

China is a top tier season just because of Courtney vs Jean Robert. Yeah, that rivalry was pretty fun. Courtney made me laugh more in HvV (pretty much everything she said that season was comedy gold, with the highlight being her confessional where she compares Russell to a troll, complete with an impression, and she also manages to slam Parvati for being willing to "flirt with, clearly, anything that walks"), but she's still been a lot of fun here. I especially enjoyed the look on her face right before she assassinated Jean Robert for claiming that he was a "bad boy." She could not have been more gleeful. Jean Robert wasn't quite a Jonny Fairplay or Russell Hantz quality villain. He was just a creep who wasn't very good at the game (in the words of James, "Jean Robert is stupid"). Edit: Here are all of Courtney's confessionals in Heroes v. Villains. As I said, comedy gold. Apparently, not all of these aired on the original broadcast (I think I would have remembered the tale of Freckles the chicken), which is an outrage, but some hero compiled all the deleted ones with the originals.

China is one of the best seasons. Probably on my top 10 just because I love the cast. I wished Aaron and Sherea made it further tho but the cast was everything.

Okay, I'm done with China. It was a good season. Probably fifth on my list of seasons I've seen, behind (no particular order) Winners at War, Cagayan, Pearl Islands, and Cambodia and ahead of Kaoh Rong and Game Changers. I was extremely impressed with Todd, who is from right up the road from where I live. He's a great Survivor player. His game reminded me a bit of Tony in Cagayan when he basically ran the strategy all season and backstabbed most of the jury but still got them to vote for him. Amanda's FTC performance was pretty poor, though she was a strong player overall. The other thing is that I think Zhan Hu is the worst tribe I have seen in any of these seasons. At least the Brains in Cagayan had three of the top five, who also did pretty well in Cambodia. Not only was Zhan Hu bad at challenges, but the best player on the tribe was almost certainly Peih-Gee, and she is not a very good Survivor player. I mean, her strategy was okay, but her social game was quite poor, so she could never convince anyone to make a move with her after the merge (the last vote she had basically any impact on was the one in which poor Aaron got screwed by the worst tribe swap ever), and she just annoyed a lot of people around camp.

Watch Gabon, Palau, and Philippines if you want to see some bad tribes
