And we're back! I've been waiting to create the thread until we know for sure that there will be a season, but with schools preparing to come back in the fall, I feel good about the chances of a 2020 season, even if it's a shorter season or pushed back later in the year.
My Predictions
Section I - Suffern - Raw talent and athleticism. They return their OH Joel Emmanuel who will be the most athletic player in the state this year. Went undefeated last year before losing to Shen in the regionals. If they can learn to serve and pass, Suffern will be a threat in the Regional Final, if not, they'll get crushed by Section 2/3 again.
Section II - Shen - Bring back their top outside from the state semifinals team from last year, and both middles. Should be able to replace talent at OH and S, but RS and L could be a problem. Graduated 3 of their 4 serve-receive guys (OH, 2 L/DS) and a D1 Right Side. Will come back hungry after playing as bad as I've ever saw a Shen team play at States last year.
Section III - CNS - Bring back most of their starting lineup, will be a solid team, but I'd be surprised to see them beat Shen in the regional (regionals at Section 2 this year). Could be a really solid team to watch out for and surprise some people, very good ball control, but don't have any big hitters.
Section V - Penfield - McQuaid loses most of their starters, but brings back setter/right side Ryan Lynch who will be one of the top players in the state this year, setting them up for a deadly 6-2. Penfield also had a deep team this year despite disappointing results on the court, and will be their biggest threat in Section 5.
Section VI - Clarence - Niagara Frontier has had the top club team in the Northeast for this incoming class since 15's, so I think whoever comes out of Section 6 will be a threat at states this year.
Section VIII - Need some help with Section VIII, in all likelihood, whoever loses in Section 8 is going home in the Long Island Final.
Section XI - Sachem North - Can't pick against them. Really, really good libero and middle returning from last years group. It's pretty much the ACAD 17's team coming up through the Sachem North program again.
