I never bought the "going to ND because of family" reason nor did I buy the "retiring from ND because of health" reason. You think it was some sort of coincidence he went to Notre Dame just at the same time as when his daughter starting attending the school? You're premise may be correct, but McLaughlin went to Notre Dame the year before his daughter started attending the school. The "may not have been a coincidence" part is his resignation coinciding with his middle daughter starting school at Xavier. If you are trying to predict McLaughlin's coaching future, you would do well to look at his family situation. His eldest daughter just graduated from Notre Dame, where she was the captain of the soccer team. His middle daughter has two years left at Xavier (she is on the Xavier soccer team). His youngest daughter is just starting high school. It should be noted that the women's soccer season run parallel to the women's volleyball season in the fall. That makes it difficult for an active volleyball coach to be able to spend much time watching his daughter's soccer matches. |

The only people who really know the reasons and details of why JMac left UW and ND are his close friends and family. And if they are that close, probably wouldn't be posting his info here. Everyone else would just be adding speculation, guesses and theories. You’d probably be surprised at the number of connected people on this forum, who are much closer to situations than you think. As you learn, you can take certain posters with a grain of salt and other posts you can take to the bank. |
