Klineman is 30, should be around for another quad.
Claes is 24, she's got min of 2 quads
Summer is 27, unless she is retired, she can take 2 years more off and be in the hunt.
Crissy Jones looks very promising.
We have a pipeline of college players, in four years will be impacting FIVB
Hell, we had high schoolers put up a 5th this last year on the AVP. (Kraft&Maple)
There really isn't a need to worry about 2024 yet.

Depends on the match. Did you watch? The winds only affected part of one day. I watched, it was the first tournament in months, there was a ton of wind, and they won. Had they played poorly and lost fine, but they were undefeated. A little rust in that context is to be expected. Also if you are going on a match by match basis fine, but if your point is that Sara is not the best defender other than April Ross, you should at least be able to name someone you think is better. Wrong. Callahan and Jones beat them. You watched? Sara and Lauren were 5-1. Cannon and Reeves 5-2. Callahan and Jones 6-1. Can’t wait to see how this champions cup plays out when they all line up and play.

Even though Sara and Lauren came back to win the event?

There is so much talent on the women's side, we could see any number of players emerge next cycle to compete for Paris 2024. But I agree with guest2 that Sara Hughes is the 2nd best defender in the US right now, and I would say that she has been for a long time. She's like April in that she's not the fastest defender, but she's patient and stays light on her feet instead of digging in or guessing. (I know that April is bigger and one of the best offensive players ever, but I'm just talking about their defense.) As a result, she takes angles and runs down balls that no one else is touching. And she makes it look a lot easier than a Sarah Sponcil, a more spectacular athlete does. She and Summer were a top-10 team in the world in 2018, and they were the only team to push the A-Team on the AVP that year. She just hasn't had a consistent, healthy partner since. When things shake up after Tokyo, Sara will get herself a top-tier partner. If April retires, I would imagine that Alix will call her up. I could also see Sara ending up with Kelley Larsen-Kolinske. She will be at the top of a lot of people's list. There was talk before Rio that Hughes/Claes were the 2nd best team in the US then, while they were still in college. The landscape has changed since then, but Sara has a lot more international experience now, and she's learned some lessons the hard way. I am confident that she will put herself in a great position to succeed next quad.

Yeah, I remember that tourney, Sara and Lauren Def. played their way into game shape.

But, I did watch Callahan outplay Hughes in Hawaii and in Cambodia so saying how “great” Hughes is makes me chuckle and wonder. She’s good but others must be pretty good or how good is she? I don’t have the answers. I only know what I see/saw. When you play with a top blocker obviously the game is easier...it’s just going to be an interesting next few years that we will all watch play out

I agree with this, would just throw it out there that I don’t think Klineman plays after Tokyo, but could definitely see April playing in Paris (if I could hope I’d love to see her coaching up a Crissy Jones like Gibb is doing for Taylor)

No way April is in Paris as a player, especially if they win gold.

Anyone know what happened to Sarah Day? She's been gone since her 5th at Austin in 2018
