Big east announcement next week. Sounds like its: 1. No non conference for sure (all fall sports) 2. Possibility of no fall sports (practice only) and either moving to spring, or cancelling all together. But, the Big East does not seemingly want to be the trendsetter or to be lagging in making their decisions; probably based on what happened with the BE basketball tourney. Yes my daughter’s coach told them today maybe 7-10 more days before decision, with all those options on the table. I suspect Creighton/Marquette would prefer a fall conference only in case there is actually a NCAA tourney. I suspect Creighton would rather have played Nebraska 5 times than cancel the non-conference!

Patriot League is moving all fall sports to Spring. Can't see how the Big East has fall sports.

Patriot League is moving all fall sports to Spring. Can't see how the Big East has fall sports. This is not what their release says. The League is committed to exploring creative approaches and alternatives to providing future competitive experiences to our fall sport student-athletes, including the possibility of conducting fall sport competition and championships in the second semester. That is MUCH less certain than you make it out to be.

If the conference was to decide no fall sports while other schools/conferences chose to play - would individual schools be released to participate if they chose?
Another data point - either conference only play or no play this fall.

I’m actually encouraged by this, as without football $$ at stake I feared they would follow the Ivys and would ditch fall altogether. So I’m happy to see them following P5s and a wait and see approach. I am however less confident that they have a true covid management plan in place compared to the communication we are getting from my other daughter’s pac-12 school regarding the athlete on-boarding process. They start self monitoring and temperature taking a week before departure, quarantine a week upon arrival, and are subject to weekly tests thereafter and have limited contact with anyone who has not gone through same process. So far at my daughter’s school they’ve brought back over 250 athletes with only 1 positive (which was caught during on boarding and did not infect others). Of course the regular students aren’t back yet so all bets are off when that happens. Praying both find a way to have a season.

What happens when someone tests positive while on a road trip? How do they get home?

FCS football doesn't make money at all really - testing athletes is gonna be expensive for BE teams. I can't see you having fall sports unless football is brining in enough money to cover testing for all athletes.

Football is not relevant to the Big East as far as money goes. But basketball is. I'm guessing the league wants to do all it can to get the men's basketball team back for the television revenue it brings. // If schools are't able to get covid test results back within a day or two or three, these seasons in the fall will not happen. And right now, test results in most places are taking up to two weeks.

. And right now, test results in most places are taking up to two weeks. My daughter’s D-1 VB team has been getting their tests back next day (at least their first few upon return to campus), so it seems possible to get them quickly.
