Here in IL, IHSA is looking to switch the fall and spring sports seasons to have football fans in the stands to provide income to schools and the association. Girls and boys volleyball would swap seasons. Does this kill off the girls only clubs as the girls would end their seasons in March rather than June/July? There's been some push for that in Texas by some football coaches. Word is UIL isn't entertaining it. The proposed schedule has vball ending in May, forcing girls to choose between HS and club. Not to mention how it affects football or vball players planning on going early in Jan. And obviously the spring sports who just lost their season isn't on board.

Here is what I posted on the Boys thread....NY Boys go in the fall. I've thought about this quite a bit. 11 hours ago futurelinejudge said: Big news from NYSPHSAA regarding the 2020-21 Boys VB season. Nothing final, but one of these initial scenarios will likely serve as the framework for the 2020-21 sports seasons. Link to the full document is attached at the bottom of the post for anyone who's interested. If interscholastic athletics are allowed AT THE START OF THE YEAR. Full, in-person learning: Traditional fall season Hybrid model (Mix of in-person, online): November-March (18 Weeks) OR March-April (8 Weeks) Entirely Online: November-March (18 Weeks) OR March-April (8 Weeks) If interscholastic athletics are NOT allowed at the start of the year. Full, in-person learning: N/A, athletics will be allowed from the start of the year if full, in-person learning resumes. Hybrid or Entirely Online: March 1st-May 8th (if the situation improves later in the year). It’s also my understanding that it will be up to each section to determine their own playing schedule, and the state will prioritize regular season. Interesting to see that the state isn't shutting the door on interscholastic athletics even if the kids are online. They're exploring various models for any postseason play, again to be determined on a section-by-section basis. Still a lot up in the year, expecting an announcement shortly after NYS determines what schools will look like in the fall. FULL LINK: www.nysphsaa.org/Portals/0/COVID%2019/Potential%20Scenarios%20NYSPHSAA%20COVID%20Task%20Force.pdf******************************* MY POSTI want to get back to normal as much as anyone and I'm looking forward to working with my team and running 3 huge tourneys. That being said I witness everyday the impact of NY State's efforts and knocking down our Covid, hospitalization and death rates. It worked. IMO the best chance for all sports is to wait until the Late winter and run 3 different 8 week seasons like in Scenario 5. While this is a shortened season it gives the best chance for all sports to have somewhat of a season and helps allowing school districts focus to be solely on education and in some cases getting kids caught back up. This allows movement, contact and cleaning to be controlled significantly easier. If we were to go full on into Fall Athletics you might as well throw all mitigation, disinfecting, social distancing and contact tracing out the window. Whatever steps each school district takes in house becomes null and void instantly. Buses will have the additional worry of athletics runs (and being cleaned), we will see intermingling of kids from other schools and other regions, temps not being taken, 40-60% of coaches are from out of district so that also increases movement and spread. It also would increase worry, lack of focus/discipline on the educational piece. When you are sick you you shut down. When you are on the road to recovery you SLOWLY introduce things into your diet, your routine and exercise that you can handle.....why? Because you will be right back in bed if you push it. Knowing what we know now about this virus.....knowing that we still have a long ways to go....and knowing what irresponsible behavior is going on in the rest of the country and it is a matter of time before it boomerangs here.....it is almost a SLAMDUNK guarantee that sports are not going to happen in the fall and much of the winter or be significantly disrupted mid season. fortune.com/2020/06/26/is-it-safe-restaurant-coronavirus-cases-credit-cards-restaurants-jp-morgan-chase-covid-19-outbreaks/This is a simple correlation study of inside restaurant CC use and COVID rise. What do you think will happen when school starts and we are in enclosed environment......and then you add sports and extracurricular activities. Any chance for mitigation is gone and we lose the fall and you can bet winter. Keep in mind we are still in the first wave. Watch carefully the effects of July 4th in 2-3 weeks. Bring the children back to Brick and mortar in some modified fashion and focus 100% on the education piece and their safety. BTW - No state (let alone school district) that I know of really has a plan for what school will be looking like yet. Furthermore withOUT federal help how the heck are we going to accomplish this? !!! www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/schools-want-reopen-safely-without-federal-funds-many-worry-they-n1232796Put the brakes on Athletics and add when we can handle the most important thing....education. The late winter and spring gives athletes a chance....imo far more of chance

End club ball early after having to cut it short this year already just to play high school ball? Who would do that? What’s the sense in that? Maybe I’m not understanding the post? IL boys clubs currently play from September to February, then take a HS break from March to early June, then return in June for nationals. If the IHSA switches their season with the girls, this becomes the girls schedule for this year. Possibly no GLR teams at GJNC unless those teams qualify early.

Texas is becoming quite the mess with fall sports. UIL has agreed if students choose virtual learning they can participate in athletics. But over the course of 24 hours several large districts have decided to keep all learning virtual for 3-6 weeks. Of those districts, 1 has said extra curriculars can happen. The rest suspended it until in class learning resumes. Does the UIL push back the football and volleyball start date of Aug. 3, do they leave it in place and force local officials to decide to allow participation, cancel all together, or push to spring?
Texas is a big state, and what may work for one area of the state may not in others. Do you pentalize the whole state?

Fort Bend County, a large suburb outside of Houston area announced no fall sports. Think Texas will have a mix of some districts playing and some will not....for the time being anyway.

Of the three HSs in my hometown of Dublin Ohio, I would project their VB teams as follows. 1 Coffman Shamrocks Their Alumnae are representing pretty hard at the NCAA D1 level with Hunter Atherton (Minn), Dana Axner (FGCU), Jenn Schulze (Miami OH), Riley Wagoner (Hawaii) and Sadie Brown (Jacksonville St). Though they are no longer a perennial state title contender, they do have a 155 game Conference winning streak going, with 13 straight Conference Titles. The bad news is that the OCC has realigned their divisions in a manner that will make it difficult to keep that streak alive. They keep their top two divisional foes in Upper Arlington and Hilliard Davidson, but then they replace all of the putrid teams in their division with regional powers Hilliard Bradley, Olentangy Liberty and Olentangy Orange. Last year they leaned heavily on a loaded freshman class that produced three starters. Replacing a pair of college bound senior starters will be key. Two Seniors, setter Anna Dorenkot along with seven rotation Erin Peeples will guide the Super Sophs OH Ella Durham, DS Annabelle Stratey and another seven rotation player in Leah Shumate. OH Ruby Moore is the most promising member of the Junior class, and the rest of the rotation remains up in the air. 2020 Schedule: coffmanathletics.net/teams/2883660/girls/volleyball/varsity/scheduleTeam Page: ladyrocksvolleyball.com/Head Coach: Kim Atherton; second season. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2 Scioto Fighting IrishThey haven't loaded up the D1 ranks like Coffman, but on the court they always hold their own. They finally finished atop their divisional standings instead of their usual second place behind Worthington Kilbourne, winning their first and only Conference Title of the decade. They might be able to overtake Coffman as the top VB team in the School District, with the two teams trending in opposite directions as of late, but none of the Dublin teams are scheduled to play each other, at lest during the regular season. The Irish still have Hard Rd rival Worthington Kilbourne as the guardians of their division, though they lose the crosstown rivalry with Jerome. Instead they have two of the Westerville HSs, with Big Nut, Delaware, and then a pair of random south side schools in Canal Winchester and Franklin Hts. So the Battle of Hard Rd "should" determine the division, with Big Nut maybe having something to say about it. They have a trio of seniors that have been varsity starters since they were freshman in setter Abby Leonard, along with the Rothe Twins. The Junior Class harbors Ayva Leon who will enter her third season at Libero. The rest of the rotation is yet to be determined. Team Page (includes 2020 schedule): www.dublinsciotovolleyball.com/Head Coach Jackie Wilson; 11th season ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jerome Celtics The town laughing stock, at least in VB circles, has shown some signs of life under their current coach, who enters his third season at the helm. Last year they finished one game behind their divisional co-champs Scioto and Hilliard Bradley. Like Scioto, the Celtics also only have one alumnus at the NCAA D1 ranks, but senior OH Jaci Carpenter has already committed to Florida Gulf Coast. Grace Schleter is the other returning senior starter. Sophomore setter Brooke Carpenter returns after starting for the varsity team as a freshman. The rest of the rotation is up for grabs, with juniors Paige Wleklinski and Caroline Zimovan being the most seasoned of the bunch. Their new OCC division is not all that daunting, with Marysville, Hilliard Darby, Thomas Worthington, Olentangy and Olentangy Berlin. The Olentangy Braves will be the "keyholder" in GVB. 2020 Schedule: jeromeathletics.net/teams/2883554/girls/volleyball/varsity/scheduleTeam Page: www.jeromegirlsvolleyball.com/Head Coach: Randy Cline; 3rd season

CIF has no plans to cancel HS sports (per Rob Wigard) and will be announcing their calendar tomorrow, 7/20/20. It will be up to the schools/districts if they will run their sports programs. Let us hope they do; fingers crossed =)

Let us hope they do; fingers crossed =) You can't play sports in California when the governor won't even let your schools resume live classroom sessions. Right now, 33 out of 58 counties in CA are subject to state restrictions, including all the major counties. CIF can say what they want, right now my bet is no fall sports will be starting anytime soon.

Season stays in fall, they watch the season go (or not if all opt out) and decide later what playoffs will look like? Is that how I should read your statement?
