I would guess the Amazon Prime ratings have typically been lower on Fridays when people are working and the players are lesser known to non-hardcore fans. Just might not be worth it streaming those matches from a financial standpoint.
I do hope they’ll encourage players to stream their Q matches on their own though.

Why is that a good choice? In fact its an incredibly stupid one. The AVP is an entertainment company, prioritizing a group of largely part time employees to the extent that it actually prevents the AVP from putting out its product is ridiculous. But assume for a second that their goal is somehow not ludicrous, they could achieve exactly the same by paying the bottom 6 teams in each gender to not play. (They could pay them whatever the 6 last place finishers would get anyway) In that scenario the fans get the product and everyone gets paid. Not figuring out a solution to this problem becomes dumbr the more I think about it. Simply not a self sustaining business. The AVP also isnt anywhere close to the business first model it used back in the 80s and 90s. I would much rather it valued its core of players who cant make anywhere close to a living and increased the product. They're still streaming the weekend. I dont think the AVP in this current pandemic is in any possible position to value the farms over players. The money comes from advertisers, who likely arent going to throw money into the current future of any product regardless of how many fans are watching. I dont think it has to be that choice - several options that dont involve cutting teams - but if it comes down to fan experience versus players, I cant think of any situation where a sports league should be prioritizing players over fans, especially when said league is desperately struggling to gain and keep new fans and when the players concerned are almost all washed or career mid-carders. We aren't talking about all players or else there would be even more teams, so its really these players who we weigh against the improved fan experience: (Bottom 6 seeds) Bill Kolinske 1223 Sean Rosenthal 1140 2363 Qualification Q7 Ed Ratledge 1302 Skylar Delsol 944 2246 Qualification Q8 Roberto Rodrigu 1197 Piotr Marciniak 1038 2235 Qualification Q9 Michael Brunsti 1035 Chase Frishman 1091 2126 Qualification Q10 Ty Loomis 1134 Miles Partain 914 2048 Qualification Q11 Andy Benesh 788 Eric Beranek 1238 2026 Qualification Q12 Partain, who is an amateur, doesn't really count because he doesn't need the money. Other than Miles and maybe Benesh, which of these names are part of the AVP's future? How does it help the AVP to give them money? And assuming it does, why not just pay them not to play and stream the others? None of these teams are going to do anything in the MD - maybe Sean/Rosie or the Killer Bs win a couple - and while I would like to see the Bs in the MD, watching them go uno dos is not something I would trade a full day of quali viewing for. How many AVP issues over the last several years could have been avoided if the AVP paid attention to their fans. This seems very reminiscent of the first year of Amazon.

Main Entry and Qualifier teams are the same. They cut the Reserve teams down to 4 per gender.

Correct. Tests again tomorrow. We'll see if the Waupaca guys come out still negative. Would be very unlikely that anyone contracting the virus over the weekend would test positive tomorrow. Hopefully they test again with results in hours later in the week.

California just announced all restaurants, bars and dining facilities to be shut down again. Is this still a go at this rate?

I know this is being held in Long Beach, but where are they holding it? Using the public beach, but fenced off to keep out fans and non players/staff?
Also, how many courts are they running (maybe 2 match courts and a practice/warmup court)?
Anyone know?

So building courts...got it. Explains the limit on teams and the lack of stream on Friday. 10 Matches per gender, 10 hour day minimum. To clear the venue halfway through and split the day up with less players on site would still have to have a full "cleaning and sterilizing" of the property to bring in an afternoon wave.
Thus, allowing the AVP to meet county standards.
Honestly, a little surprised this still goes on given the tightening of things in Cali as of yesterday.
