Guess we won’t be seeing Nebraska play Creighton five times, as John Cook had (possibly in jest) suggested was a possibility. He was not saying that in jest.

There is no such thing as "profit" in college athletics. That's a dirty word. Schools (especially public) are supposed to be non-profit ventures.
Whatever revenues come in, they find a way to make it look like they spent every last dime.
Have you seen pictures of the Power 5 football team locker rooms? Yeah, every red cent is spent. Um, have you seen Power 5 volleyball locker rooms (like Texas)? We cant ignore the fact that massive football revenues also provide amazing, luxury facilities for non-revenue sports as well.

Dunno about Texas, but the Gopher’s VB locker room, training facility, offices, and balcony clubroom were paid for by VB booster donations. (I also agree that the FB locker rooms are on a whole different level of posh.)

Why doesn't football develop a helmet with built in N95 mask in it and require every player to have a face shield. why limit it to football? Volleyball players (and just about every other non-aquatic college sport with the exception of wrestling) could require face masks/shields

The huge new Athlete's Village (new football center, new basketball center, new nutrition/academic center, some other facilities) for $160M at the U of Minn is all donations, which they still haven't finished raising.
