Wow: lotsa changes! As a sidetrack, before moving to Hawaii for the past ~11 years, I resided in severe climates (incl. straight here from Anchorage). Snow VB, eh? I've never seen that played, nor promoted, anywhere I have lived. A more Euro 'thing'?

It already has a recognized world tour. 4 player roster with 3 allowed on court. They play to fewer points due to playing in a lower oxygen climate.

Pending the drawing of lots for the qualification round I definitely think that Scandicci and Dynamo Moscow are the favorites to qualify for the last two spots. That is if they don't cross each other in an earlier round. LKS Comm. Lodz is a pretty weak team. I don't see them making it past Stuttgart.
What is nice is that all eliminated teams will automatically be in the CEV Cup which will strengthen that competition A TON. Also worth noting...If I am correct in my understanding of this maze, the previous seasons Challenge Cup winner automatically qualifies for the CEV Cup. So, since last season was cancelled that means the 2019 winners will be present which is Monza from Italy. I think that means that the allotted seed for Italy will pass to Casalmaggiore. And THEN the Challenge Cup Italian seed will go to Chieri!
What's cool about that is that Jordyn Poulter took Chieri from being almost relegated from A1 in 2019 to 7th place at the halt of league play in February 2020 thus allowing them to sneak into the challenge cup. That's pretty cool. Also that means that Alexandra Frantti and Rhamat Alhassan will now represent the USA at Chieri.
This normally wouldn't be the case but since CEV is allowing teams that kinda got shafted by not earning a direct seed this season but had been contenders last season a chance to get back into the Champions League. By doing this that bumps up other mid-tier teams in those same domestic leagues into the lower CEV cups, which is cool as f*ck!

In a normal year, in the new format, no country will have more than 5 teams participating across all of the CEV cups. However this year will really play into Italy's favor.
Champions League Seeded: Conegliano Busto Arsizio Novara
Champions League Qualifier: Scandicci
CEV Cup: Monza Casalmaggiore
CEV Challenge Cup: Chieri

www.cev.eu/News.aspx?NewsID=3094817/18 of the seeded teams claimed their spot with only Romania's CSM Volei Alba Blaj declining. According to this article there will be 12 teams that will compete in home and away matches in the first two rounds for the last three spots in the fourth round (league round). Looks like the 3rd round won't be necessary this year due to having an even number of teams in the 1st round. Three out of these four: Dinamo Moscow, ŁKS Commercecon Łódź, Savino del Bene Scandicci and Allianz MTV Stuttgart are the favorites to advance. It will all come down to the drawing of lots to see where they all land in the bracket. Get pumped ya'll! This is pro ball at the highest level!
