I'll just repeat that concern for the welfare of others is not fear. I wish you all good health AND that we can recover quickly from this pandemic. And that DII volleyball is able to have a full and healthy season in the Spring.

Someone mentioned on another thread that the D2 tournament was moved to spring? Any confirmation of this...and if so how does that play into the conferences that are playing in the fall?? Anyway, back to the land of rational thought. No, NCAA has not moved anything. Those schools that have moved to spring, have done so on their own. If the NCAA keeps the championship in the fall, those schools are SOL.

There are other things in life (besides Covid) that I am concerned for the welfare of others. There are not exclusive rights to compassion by those that support a return to shutdowns. Sometimes both sides have valid points.

With the championships now cancelled, I wonder if there will still be conference matches played in the Spring, and “Conference Champions” determined. Could they just play the maximum allowable matches in the Spring to still allow for a redshirt year? Seems the best choice so that your teams can still play, but no one is charged a year of competition.
Complicates the scholarship allocations for the upcoming years if programs do decide to go that route.

As of last week DII management council had voted for spring championships. Board of governors took that recommendation to their meeting this week and overruled to cancel championships. This was a shock to everyone, as most coaches and staff found out from the twitter post.
At this point I know that many conferences are exploring options to play some sort of season whether it’s in the fall, spring, or both. I’ve also heard that the AVCA may be exploring options for a DII level NIVC type tournament.
Schools can elect to play as long as they abide by covid protocols. If you use 10 or fewer dates (not including postseason tournaments) you do not burn a year of eligibility. It’s will be interesting to see how this plays out going forward...
