It's worth a click through to read, with a nice catch on the "sunday rule," which is still in play. The focus, is, of course, the other side.

It's not hard to figure out.
It can be done and is done in Wisconsin,NY and NJ every year without much pain.
The club aspect will be tricky and hard choices will have to be made.

My sense from conversations with various coaching staffs is they only show up to HS matches to show support for their signees more than to look for new talent since they have ideas on who they want to pursue based upon club competition. IF club and HS seasons coincide it seems logical that athletes would choose club for better exposure to Colleges'/Universities' coaches.
It seems from an athlete perspective they are choosing to forego their HS seasons for better competition in the Club setting. It's definitely a trend worth looking for this upcoming season.

My sense from having a family of athletes is that they spent their club years trying to improve their game to compete for a spot on their HS team. At the highest level in HS it's incredibly competitive in certain areas of the country, maybe not yours. When reminiscing about their playing days its all about their HS and College team experience. They continue to have relationships with their HS and College team mates long after their playing careers ended. That did not happen with their Club teams. So, I think it is going to be an individual choice based on what they value, not all guys think they are going to be college scholarship players or for that matter think that they will continue their playing careers after high school.

Comparing the size of CIF-SS to the seasons in Wisconsin and NY is like comparing a blueberry to a watermelon. This will be a hard year for a lot of coaches, administrators, families, and especially refs.

Gym space will be a challenge, but it's something that can be done. Teams will have to be flexible, but it's done every year in NY when the end of the fall season conflicts with the start of the winter season and Boys/Girls Volleyball + Boys/Girls Basketball all have to share gym time.
The biggest challenge I see is coaching staffs. A large number of schools have the same coaches for both the boys and girls programs. You'd need at least 4 coaches to have a JV and Varsity coach for both gender (JV coach can also serve as Varsity assistant), but for a lot of schools that means bringing in new coaches, and now is certainly not an easy time to find a coach, especially if a large # stick to coaching club.

You're right-- that's why I refer to it as "my sense." I'm only exposed to Coaches/Staffs and Recruiting Services/Programs/Showcases in my region so I'm limited. I would never want to discount what's happening in other areas by any means. Once the pandemic subsides, I truly hope we go back to the seasons we had pre-COVID, but as a realist I have to consider that there will most likely be some changes that will stay.

Working as a high school administrator, I thought of gym space and scheduling right off the bat. Then I realized that girls and boys basketball play at the same time. A high school varsity volleyball match takes four refs compared to three in basketball, but I could see them going back to using volunteer student linesmen if need be.
For basketball use the "6 pack" model that could be employed for volleyball as well. The girls and boys teams play at the same site. One gym houses a jv boys, freshman boys, then freshmen girls game. The other gym houses the jv girls, then varsity girls, followed by the varsity boys matches.
What I now see as the biggest hurdle where I am is the coaching situation. Many coaches coach both boys and girls. Even if the head varsity coaches might be different, many of the boys coaching staffs (assistants, jv, and freshmen) also coach in the girls programs.
