Evans just set a dig. These refs are now functionally irrelevant. Ricardo with a trademark spike block on Hyden and they may get a win in this game

Setting in the AVP and FIVB is now the equivalent of traveling in the NBA. It’s sad they have lowered the standard for those that should have the highest level of skills.

It's not a fault to set a dig. In fact usually, if my partner digs the ball I do set it. If you meant that he set a ball that deflected off the block, well that's also not a fault. It didn't spin, didn't look to be held, nor did Hyden/Casebeer argue about it after the play.

It didn't spin, didn't look to be held, nor did Hyden/Casebeer argue about it after the play. Why would they argue, refs have made it clear they aren't calling anything. Its a standard players have recognized, as evidenced by Miles taking a first ball off Ricardo's block (that was the one I was referring to) that was spinning heavily, with his hands. And he did it on match point. Chase Frishman commented on the non calls on his livestream and many people here have observed it as well. I did think it was bad, I thought it was a grab and hold, but the legality of that one play is likely irrelevant to the larger point. Miles is not Randy Stoklos or Brian Lewis or a player with incredible hands. The fact that he feels comfortable taking a ball like that overhand, when he had many other options, and on match point is an indicator for me that the players know that refs won't make calls. It wasn't even the first ball Miles chucked after Hyden/Casebeer got game point, he previously set a tight pass to save game at 20-18 that looked bad and had spin. The reffing of these events has been a travesty and its beyond missing a few calls now. Its apparent there has been a decision made not to call anything but the most egregious handsets.

Ricardo with a trademark spike block on Hyden and they may get a win in this game There was a play in the Dalcena/Loomis match where Lucena is 15' off the net setting Phil tight, he bumpsets it over, Loomis who's blocking goes up with 2 hands, and with his right hand swings and hits it into the tape, and the ball pops straight up and Loomis sets it over to Partain. Nick was ready to lose it but the point kept playing and after Dalcena won the point Nick went over and talked to the ref about it. Reffing just seems off in alot of areas.

Jeremy is not causing any trouble for his opponents with his serve this weekend but still making tons of service errors. Also he needs a high set at the pin and instead he’s getting nothing but 4 balls and forced tempo. Those aren’t good sets for him if he wants to side out at a decent rate.

ChaCha about to go down in three sets.
If stats are true, that is quite impressive. Brunner/Patterson only had 2 hitting errors of the entire 3-set match and they have a .632 hitting percentage. Patterson alone had 33 kills.

Theo looks better than I think I've ever seen. Not just this match either.
Looks more athletic.

Just a brutal partnership. The ugly side of the points shuffling.
