Obviously if the whole season is cancelled, they wouldn't hold a post-season conference tournament.
I'm not aware of any such rumors, though. Maybe you're talking about the OP -- that's the NCAA only, discussing their post-season tournament only. That has nothing to do with the conferences.
I'm not talking about the OP... The conference was preparing to cancel VB yesterday, according to a source who would definitely know. Ok, I can't possibly refute that. We will see, but it wouldn't surprise me.
I personally think that unless things get better by next week, all college fall sports should at least be delayed. That's my opinion and I speak only for myself.

Even if the NCAA cancels the the tournament for this season, the Big Ten (and the PAC, etc.) could hold their own post-season conference tournaments, like some of the smaller conferences do. If there is no national championship this year, would top seniors choose to play? I believe the NCAA has already stated that any player may opt out of this season, given the possible health risks and retain that year of eligibility and remain on scholarship. If I were a senior and could either add another year of eligibility to my career or play some truncated conference only schedule.....that would be an easy decision. Whether you would be offered a scholarship at the same school the following year is another issue, but isn’t that what the transfer portal is for I guess? It's a very good point, that is probably applicably for most schools and players. For the top players, they may not want to delay professional careers/contracts, but that's only at the top.

Everybody would be delaying a career. Most aren’t in volleyball but I think there are quite a few who would simply want to move on in life.

Refute it? Why? I'm trying - obviously without saying who the coach is - to give you an idea of what I'm hearing. I understand why you suggested it - if money weren't such a big issue, I think it'd be a good idea - but right now a B10 VB conference tournament is not on the horizon. As someone who depends on VB for my income, no part of this process makes me happy.

The P5 players and coaches I have heard from want the plug pulled immediately so they can stop pretending they need to get 6 months of work in before September 1st, and can instead start a reasonable plan for a full season either in spring or next fall. With the restrictions they have been told will be in place for at least one big money P5 school, a fall season is going to suck because of all the limitations on travel, use of facilities, dining options, limits on managers and trainers, potentially practicing and playing in masks, the constant testing, and on and on.

This is completely consistent with what I have been hearing from Power 5 schools. They know the decisions are being delayed due to football, but all seem to be hoping to make the call and start planning for what comes next. Because the enormity of unknowns involved in attempting to play this fall just make no justifiable sense.

women's collegiate volleyball should just be cancelled for the 2020 academic year. Just do it. Football will just likely be "postponed" because, unlike college volleyball, football makes money. The only question should be whether or not players will be granted an extra year of eligibility. Don't change the scholarship cap, if schools have space for them in 2021, great, if not, well, they will still get to graduate with a college degree in hand. It sucks, but it's just one year of college volleyball. Sometimes life just sucks, and in the world of unfortunate situations, not being able to play volleyball for a season is pretty freaking low on the totem pole.

If vaccines become available for players and staff in say Jan/Feb ... you don’t support a spring season for the women?

If we’re cancelling intercollegiate athletics, should we allow college athletes to participate in adult leagues and tournaments that will still happen throughout the country?

I don't know if it should be explicitly banned, but it seems like a really bad idea. At least for this fall, many schools are trying to limit exposure between students and the wider community. Students are strongly encouraged to stay on campus and limit going back and forth. At one P5 school (at least) adult leagues would technically not be allowed for any student regardless of NCAA rules. It's kind of like the NBA, you stay in the bubble with explicit exceptions for essential activities like dealing with family, personal business or going to strip clubs.

The goal of HHS OWS (Operation Warp Speed) is to deliver 300 million vaccine doses by January. I have no idea if that is a reachable goal, but they are throwing tons of money at it and streamlining regulations to make it happen.

Volleyball and all women’s fall sports are tied to football. The NCAA doesn’t control P5 football. However the title IX implications are huge for this decision ... at least as it pertains to the P5. That’s why there is so much kicking the can down the road (along with the virus unpredictability). They figure out a way to play P5 football then you can guarantee they are playing P5 women’s fall sports no matter what the NCAA decides. But my guess is that the NCAA is waiting on the P5 to make that football decision before they start canceling D1 championships. Does Title IX have any provision toward actual competition? If all the female athletes retain their scholarships, could conferences decide to only have a football season?

Right but whole point of the NBA bubble is to allow for basketball competition. If we are taking that away from college athletes and cancelling for the year, I think it's wrong to also say they can't compete in outside competition.

If all the female athletes retain their scholarships, could conferences decide to only have a football season? From the NCAA website: Athletics programs are considered educational programs and activities. There are three basic parts of Title IX as it applies to athletics:
Participation: Title IX requires that women and men be provided equitable opportunities to participate in sports. Title IX does not require institutions to offer identical sports but an equal opportunity to play; Scholarships: Title IX requires that female and male student-athletes receive athletics scholarship dollars proportional to their participation; and Other benefits: Title IX requires the equal treatment of female and male student-athletes in the provisions of: (a) equipment and supplies; (b) scheduling of games and practice times; (c) travel and daily allowance/per diem; (d) access to tutoring; (e) coaching, (f) locker rooms, practice and competitive facilities; (g) medical and training facilities and services; (h) housing and dining facilities and services; (i) publicity and promotions; (j) support services and (k) recruitment of student-athletes.Not sure it would be 'equitable opportunities to participate in sports', but even if they got around that one, '(b) scheduling of games and practice times' would certainly fail. www.ncaa.org/about/resources/inclusion/title-ix-frequently-asked-questions
