Had to catch the semis and final on replay since I actually got to plan in a co-ed 6's tournament yesterday (got roofed by a very nice young lady that plays Beach for North Alabama), the image used for the Men's final kinda gave the result away (it's Tri and Trevor hugging), but that was a great match, 2T having that early fire, staying steady and then finishing strong.
Wasn't able to see the interview they gave after since I couldn't watch the full day stream on Sunday just the matches broken up.

The AVP deserves kudos for pulling off what I consider to be a highly successful three weekend tournament. As a result of their efforts, our beach players didn't have to face a full season of not playing. I was very satisfied with the format considering the limitations required by the pandemic and our players were able to put some money in their pockets merely by qualifying to play. My only major criticism was the AVP not streaming the qualifier. We have three men's teams that are unquestionably the top three AVP teams and capable of beating each other on any given day. At 40, Dalhausser is still, by a clear margin, our top player. I thought both Trevor Crabb and Bourne have upped their game a level to become one of the top three teams. I also thought Brunner played the best I've ever seen him play. He is probably our second or third best blocker, he was rarely stopped on offense and, what was his biggest weakness - setting, was noticeably improved by his handsetting. I also see some hope with two younger players. Benesh has promise as a young "big" and Partain has all of the skills of someone much older and seasoned.

I think Jose Loiola deserves some credit for helping 2T stay in control of their emotions. Tri and Trevor are both pretty intense and often look like they’re on the brink of losing their composure. When Trevor threw his hat late in set three of the final, I was sure that was the end. But Jose kept it upbeat and positive during the ensuing time out and kept them on an even keel. Excellent job!

I am a little late to the party but thought I would share a little stat recap of the top men's teams from the Champion's Cup series. This compares the team stats of the teams that competed in all three main draws. All stats are cumulative over the series. The most interesting stats to me were the high risk stats of Hyden-Casebeer. They earn the most points but also have the most errors.
