I wonder if the MAC football teams were still going to get a payday from the P5 schools would they have even postponed the sports? My guess is probably not.

How do you have half the volleyball conferences playing in Spring and say P5 in fall? Postpone already, P5. Don’t worry, these conferences won’t be playing a spring season either.

Not sure why the MAC led the country to believe they were only cancelling the fall football season in their initial press release and then later in the day announce they are canceling all fall sport seasons. Giving false hope is the sign of poor leadership by the MAC commissioner. Anyway, here are Kitten’s prediction of what would have been had the MAC played volleyball this fall. MAC East: 1. Ohio 2. Akron 3. Bowling Green 4. Miami 5. Kent State 6. Buffalo. MAC West: 1. Central Michigan 2 Western Michigan 3. Ball State 4. Northern Illinois 5. Toledo 6.Eastern Michigan MAC Tournament Champion: Central Michigan

@ramblerheart You are correct: NEC lists 10 schools, but Mount St. Mary's and Wagner don't have volleyball. I have updated the original post to 99, because the count was wrong in the CAA.

I seriously doubt any coach in the MAC was anymore distraught over yesterday’s announcement than Akron’s Tom Hanna. The Zips are the fastest rising program in the MAC and his brick by brick approach has put Akron in the hunt for the MAC championship for the first time in many a moon. Very few coaches in America hunt down players any more than the high energy Hanna and the Zips would love to hang a long awaited MAC championship banner in Rhodes Arena!

Excellent story from Volleyball Magazine. The beauty of the MAC the past 10 years is a plethora of teams have competed for MAC supremacy. Former powers Western Michigan, Ohio and Northern Illinois have fallen off the cliff and former bottom feeders Miami, Central Michigan and Bowling Green have risen to the top. The only team that has remained in the MAC championship hunt on a consistent basis the past 10 years has been Ball State, but the Cardinals have only advanced to the NCAA tournament two times since 2010, but as recent as 2019. The other up and coming program along with Tom Hanna’s Akron Zips is Central Michigan. The Chippewas were odds on favorites to win the MAC in 2020 although Ohio had the Cats to give the Chips a run for their money. Ohio skipper Dean Webb has had a horrific time keeping his talented Bobcats healthy in recent years and have made a big tumble down the MAC ladder.

Lee: as usual, your in-depth articles are spot-on! The writing conveyed real insights; and many emotions as to the effects of this current pandemic upon coaches/players.

So the Big Sky is still on, even though they moved FB to spring?
Far out.

This is pretty odd. Old Dominion cancels on their own while the rest of C-USA is still on? Does this signal that C-USA has no intent to cancel?
