Vote based on the following criteria:
-Look at the overall game of the pair. Base your choice on how efficient they will be in their all around game. -Assume all are healthy and in their best from (post pregnancy/injury/etc.). -DO NOT vote based on how you think the team will place in the competition.
The pairs listed in the poll are who I think each country will name as the starting pair and who I think is the best option.
If you disagree, vote for one of the other options and tell us who you chose and why.
Cheers!

I’d argue Chiaka and Foluke would make the best duo. Fast and can jump like crazy. Chi would have been Best MB at World Cup if she were not benched in some matches. Also, is Foluke training already?

I don't know. I am wondering if she will still be going overseas to play in China or Japan. She is for sure playing for Athletes Unlimited.

I actually think Erdem and Gunes are the best combo in the world right now.

Veljkovic just announced that she’s pregnant. I’d say it’s highly unlikely she’ll be at the olympics.

Veljkovic just announced that she’s pregnant. I’d say it’s highly unlikely she’ll be at the olympics. She is due in February. If she trains during her term which she says she will get back at it now that she is through her 1st trimester, then I see no reason why she won't be ready come July. If not, Mina Popović and Maja Aleksić are no pushovers. They too could get the job done. Hell even Jovana Stevanović could get invited back to fill that spot. She is still playing in good form.

I swear she renewed (signed?) with her old club in Japan pre pregnancy?

Was rewatching some of Foluke’s past club matches... damn we need the queen back lol. In all seriousness though, I think even her at 80% is better than Dixon or Washington but as a Stanford fan I’m biased

I’m honestly shocked at how much Chiaka has grown since Texas... she’s light years better!!!

Is Akinradewo a lock for Tokyo at this point...hmmm.

I would say USA has the most depth in the middle for whichever trio they bring (Akinradewo, Ogbogu, Dixon/Washington). The only other team that is close to comparing is probably Serbia (Rasic, Veljkovic, and M. Popovic).
China has an intimidating middle duo with Yan Ni and Yuan Xinyue, but then there is a big drop off compared to the third they will bring (Yang Hanyu, Wang Yuanyuan). This should be concerning for them since Yan Ni has been battling injuries and is trying her best to stick out till Tokyo. Turkey is in a similar situation with Erdem and Gunes, but with Akman who isn't much of a threat as their third. Italy is hard to say because of the inconsistency with Chirichella and Danesi. Folie is great, but she hasn't played against the likes of China, USA, and Brazil since 2017 and that was before her ACL injury in 2018.
I'm not sure if Brazil even has any middles locked for Tokyo.

Indeed Akinradewo is the queen of the middle. Had she not been injured Rio Semis 2016, she singlehandedly would have given USA its 1st gold. She can still do that in Tokyo.
@ her abdominal muscles, get a grip.
