Will athletes lose a year of eligibility? Or will they be able to be redshirted? There were no games played, therefore any play with a “redshirt” year could definitely use one without losing eligibility. The NCAA would have to decide if an extra year would be granted for players who had previously used a redshirt year. My guess is that they would grant it for everyone. They’ll do whatever they did for spring sports. NCAA and universities will have to figure out how scholarships will be managed for that extra year. If I was a uncommitted 2021, I’d be nervous. College coaches may have to decide whether or not they want to keep a senior for a bonus year or bring in a freshman. I can’t imagine many schools have budget money to go over 12 scholarships for fall sports (even if the NCAA allows it.)

Big concern: people in USA too stubborn to wear mask;😷 6 foot rule! (I guess it infringes on their freedom!) They don't think they can get sick! Until we get mature enough to follow simple rules; we will keep spreading the virus!🤢

Until Nov (assuming that doesn't change) it's verbal only. Schools needs may totally change based on players staying. Assuming eligibility is for all players.

The death Nell for Fall sports was the NCAA not allowing universities to insulate themselves from liability with waivers from athletes opting in. I believe they would be willing to absorb the testing costs and loss of ticket revenue, but there is nothing administrators hate more than ambiguous unlimited liability.
That is how AAU was able to hold firm in hosting a National Championship.

Not to say that the OP's sources are wrong, but I am going to hold off on ANY and ALL assumptions until it is official. So many rumors start bouncing around once someone makes a claim, and nobody really knows anything for sure. Unless you are in the room where decisions are being made, and YOU tell me 1st hand, I'm gonna hold out hope. Btw, I (and I assume others) could seriously do without the political BS...talking about sports not happening is bad enough

Still a lot of great volleyball to see supporting US players in pro leagues!

This is going to have a rolling effect on many recruiting classes to come. Needed an OH in '21? Well now you don't because your OH that was supposed to graduate will be around an extra year.

Hope Rettke goes pro now. Where? How many countries can Americans even travel to? How many American players are stuck at home trying to get to their clubs right now? Or, have all of those issues been resolved? I know players who play in Turkey are able to get there. Not sure of any others.

Reportedly the Big 10 voted 12-2 to cancel fall sports. The two no votes were Nebraska and Iowa. They will announce on Tuesday. They are working on getting the other conferences to announce at the same time, and it is assumed they are working on answers to the next questions... spring, eligibility, scholarships, etc.
This doesn't mean the members of the Big 10 cannot play, but their media rights are signed to the Big 10, so the home games cannot be televised without the Big 10's permission, which presumably they wouldn't get. So the question for Nebraska and Iowa is who has a media rights deal that can pay them to come and play? In football, that would be BYU, Army, maybe Notre Dame depending on their 2020 agreement with the ACC. In volleyball, would/could the AVCA stage events for Nebraska, and whoever and would they get enough eyes to make a profit for themselves and the participating schools?
Probably not going to happen. At the moment I think the only sports we see this fall will be the military academies, who at last mention, were playing no matter what.

Or your coach recruited someone else's senior OH to come in instead.

So do 21s now delay their debut to 22 by taking a gap year etc? This is going to be interesting to see it all play out.
