How many Big Ten schools aren't allowing students in classrooms? As it relates to my point, how many aren’t hybrid or partially remote? Wouldn’t football specifically violate nearly every cdc guideline, recommendation? Football probably violates a bunch of CDC guidelines WITHOUT Covid19! Looks like Nebraska starts next Monday, tOSU starts midweek next week, 6 are in 2 weeks, and 6 are 3 or more weeks out. Nebraska is first, followed by tOSU, which seem to be the two most likely to push ahead. Notre Dame started today. Has anybody else already started? 99.7% of Notre Dame students tested COVID-free before returning to campus, and the few positive tests had to go through additional quarantine, but even so, Notre Dame reports positive coronavirus case on campus a couple of days before classes started today.

She might feel that her hand was forced, now that this got leaked. Doesn't want a "peaceful protest" to break out on her lawn.

Not Power 5, but I know Troy started today because they were the first to post practice pictures last week and the dates lined up with the first day of classes being 8/10.

I would hate to be the school that get sued for millions if one or more of their athletes suffered career ending conditions. Those millions of dollars earned from tv will vanish due to litigations and damages owed to the injured party. To me, it’s not worth the risk.
Without a waiver, there will certainly be someone who will come down with the virus and suffer some kind of damage that might affect the player’s pro status/earning potential and surely some lawyer will take the school to court and hold them responsible. With all the warnings and tons of studies out there saying that this virus is extremely dangerous, it a guaranteed loss for the school. iMHO
Imagine if Trevor Lawrence was to succumb to Covid while playing this season. The guy could be worth close to 100 million dollars(Patrick Mahomes type money). Clemson is going to be on the hook for that kind of money. Whatever money Clemson earn the next few seasons will be to pay Trevor Lawrence. That is just one player.

The Big 10 is now changing the discussion to delaying the season instead of canceling. Which means spring football is a strong possibility as well as spring volleyball. I think if big 10 volleyball moves to the spring then so will everyone else. Simply because you can't have a season without the likes of Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, penn state, etc....

Yup, that hit hard. They’ve ignore A LOT of signals, signs, incidents to keep hope alive, this isn’t one of them.

No need to worry about legal implications etc.. but Covid? Hmm.. I guess if you get a concussion you can't really bring it home to Grandma but interesting take on the legal angle. I would think there would be equal concern for both issues legally, but that does not seem to be the case. To be fair, one would think they have established good protocols for both issues on the field to prevent long term effects. We have seen the concussion protocols in action, interested to see the covid protocols.

And the ACC medical expert says the opposite: www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/29639609/acc-medical-expert-says-fall-football-season-played-safelyThe chair of the ACC medical advisory group believes a fall season can be played safely, which is one of the biggest reasons the league remains on course to start the season in September.
Dr. Cameron Wolfe, a Duke infectious disease specialist, told Sports Business Daily that doctors have learned enough over the past six months to manage the risk.
"We believe we can mitigate it down to a level that makes everyone safe," Wolfe told The Daily. "Can we safely have two teams meet on the field? I would say yes. Will it be tough? Yes. Will it be expensive and hard and lots of work? For sure. But I do believe you can sufficiently mitigate the risk of bringing COVID onto the football field or into the training room at a level that's no different than living as a student on campus."

Yup, that hit hard. They’ve ignore A LOT of signals, signs, incidents to keep hope alive, this isn’t one of them. They've known that COVID can cause potentially fatal myocarditis, arrhythmias, and strokes - even among previously healthy people - since April (at least). It was pretty widely reported in the US. I wonder why they're paying attention now.

Interesting that so many schools/conferences have medical professionals who seem to think football can be safely done.

Gonna be very interested to see what happens with volleyball when we cross the threshold for the cancellation of the NCAA championship if the SEC and ACC are still playing FB. Do their WVB teams get coerced into playing in the fall to justify FB? That could be a really costly decision for UK, Florida etc if they burn a season of eligibility that their national competitors are able to redshirt.
