Looks like, according to the StarAdvertiser article, the only player that has not arrived in Hawaii yet is Demirtas. Still waiting on her visa. Hoping she will get to Hawaii soon. The Wahine will need her height.

Possibly some bad news for wahine fans who were planning to attend the matches. Especially the season tickets holders like me. Gov. Ige just issued a, not exactly for sure, but it seems like 50% gathering for indoors activities effective immediately. Awwweeehhh!!!

Honolulu mayor Rick Blangiardi was just on a local sports talk show and he has submitted a proposal to the Gov to let UH allow up to 75% capacity BUT everyone need to be vaccinated. Ige’ s executive orders are really target at restaurants, gyms, bars and other social gathering places because they “refused” to forced their customers to show proof of vax. So if UH wants to get up to 75% capacity they need everyone admitted to show proof. If UH doesn’t want to go that route and prefer not to force fans to show proof of vax, then UH will have to either work with 50% or less or no fans at all.

And your party cannot be more than 10. The other thing that may happen is only vaccinated people can attend. I would love that.

Kind of late in the game for unvaccinated fans to get vaxxed now and catch the first tournament….especially if they don’t want the one shot J&J shot. Moderna is 4 weeks apart and Pfizer is 3 weeks apart. UH’s first match is in 17 days.

It's not a big deal to require proof of vaccination. It is super easy to counterfeit a photo or card for people who really don't want to get vaxxed.

Would you risk your criminal history and fake a card just to watch a volleyball? I know it will be hard to detect fake ones but most people are law abiding citizens and will not risk their lives faking a card just to watch a game. Just watch the darn thing on TV if you are unvaxxed. Most volleyball fans are on the mature side so it’s not like a basketball crowd where young kids would think nothing of using fake cards. I think volleyball should be OK. The issue will arise when UH’s men basketball season starts. That’s a whole difference crowd there.

Especially if there is some sort of database that can match up names to tickets along with their vaccine cards. Imagine getting arrested before the USC series because you get flagged from the first purchase you got away with

How is the testing situation going these days in Hawaii?
It would probably be good business for a rapid testing company to make themselves available nearby so fans that do not wish to be vaccinated can at least show proof of negativity.
