Any news on the jobs at Brewton Parker, Cardinal Stritch, or Iowa Wesleyan? Iowa Iowa Wesleyan reached out to local female coaches but I think they were rejected in each case because of the salary. The last part is only a guess. The reaching out is not.

It is the way they unbalanced the pods that was aggravating. A single round robin plus a second match against a geographic division is/was a super normal way to do things. The only weird part was playing all of those division matches first. Then all of the non-division matches second. But wasn’t it the right thing to do? I agree it might seem strange, but with COVID still being more “fresh” in September when ACC play started. Made sense to play the geographically closest matches x2 first. It messed up ‘competitive balance’, but let’s not act like that doesn’t happen in normal years in the ACC and B1G.

But even pro leagues prioritize geography over competitive balance. The West division of the NBA has been dominant for years. It would be crazy to think a college volleyball conference should focus less on geography than the NBA (or MLB, NHL and NFL).

The last part is only a guess. The reaching out is not. I was asked to take the Head Coach position at Iowa Wesleyan last year but turned down the offer because the salary was $36k. Most decent D2 & D1 Assistants make that much.

While I agree that is not a great salary, I am not the comparison is accurate. Assistants making that money are either performing other duties or are bigger schools. Wesleyan's salary seems to be in line with other schools, including DII, with less than 1000 students on campus
