Welcome everyone! This thread shall be dedicated to the remaining European Leagues aside from Turkey and Italy. I have taken on the painstakingly tedious task of tracking down all of the American players as well as other players of note around the rest of Europe. Most of these leagues follow a home and away double round-robin regular season with the top half usually qualifying for playoffs. Playoff structures do vary pending on the size of the league. Sprinkled in are the domestic cups as well but most leagues have either started or just wrapped their preliminaries for those tournaments. As links for stats and streams for broadcasting become available/known I will add them in this post so everyone can find their favorite team and when they play. Most leagues play every week and sometimes twice a week during the beginning until the continent-wide tournaments (Champions League/Cup/Challenge Cup) start. I anticipate the German League being intensely talked about and more competitive than in past seasons featuring a very nice crop of foreign and American talent. Russia is always a competitive league to watch as is France though the level of play is slightly lower from the latter. I still consider Russia to be a top tier league but not with as many competitive teams as Turkey or Italy. It might not be too likely that we will be able to find streams of the smaller less popular leagues due to whether or not the league has a media sponsor/tv program set up and ready. I will try to locate the various league homepages for the purpose of finding stats and such. I do recommend www.flashscore.com/volleyball/ for finding all the times/schedules of matches. Cheers fellow volleyball enthusiasts!

German 1. Bundesliga Women

SSC Palmberg Schwerin - CEV Champions League 4th Round Coach: Felix Koslowski (German NT Head Coach)
S: Femke Stoltenborg (NED) S: Denise Imoudu* OH: Greta Szakmary (HUN) OH: Taylor Agost (USA) OH: Nicole Oude Luttikhuis (NED) OH: Lina Alsmeier OH: Romy Jatzko MB: Lauren Barfield (USA) MB: Marie Scholzel* MB: Lea Ambrosius OPP: Hayley Spelman (USA) L: Anna Pogany* L: Patricia Nestler
This team downgraded a bit this year. I still think they are a solid contender for the league title but the race will be super tight.
Bold: Strongest Possible Line-Up (On paper) *German National Team Member
Allianz MTV Stuttgart - CEV Champions League 1st Round Coach: Giannis Athanasopoulos (GRE)
S: Athina Papafotiou (GRE) S: Pia Kastner* OH: Maria Segura (ESP) OH: Hester Jasper (NED) OH: Michaela Mlejnkova (CZE) OH: Dora Grozer OH: Lara Berger MB: Juliet Lohuis (NED) MB: Mira Todorova (BUL) MB: Jenna Rosenthal (USA) OPP: Krystal Rivers (USA) OPP: Lena Grose Scharmann L: Roosa Koskelo (FIN) L: Lena Grundt
This team lives and dies on the shoulders of Krystal Rivers. She is their star. They are solid through the middle but I don't know much about their OH's. Kastner is essentially the future at the setting position for Germany. This is a huge opportunity for her.
Bold: Strongest Possible Line-Up (On paper) *German National Team Member
SC Potsdam - CEV Cup Coach: Guillermo Naranjo Hernandez (ESP)
S: Lindsay Flory (USA) S: Ana Tiemi Takagui (BRA) OH: Lindsey Ruddins (USA) OH: Laura Emonts OH: Antonia Stautz OH: Vanessa Agbortabi MB: Symone Speech (USA) MB: Kelsey Veltman (CAN) MB: Natalie Wilczek OPP: Brittany Abercrombie (USA) L: Aleksandra Jegdic (SRB)
What this team lacks in roster size it makes up for with quality. Fun fact: Speech and Veltman were the MB duo for Brescia in Italy all season so they will do nicely in this slightly less competitive environment. Abercrombie is the teams primary offensive outlet. Ruddins should start but I am unsure about who the other OH will be. This team should make a push for the title.
Bold: Strongest Possible Line-Up (On paper) *German National Team Member
Dresdner SC 1898 - CEV Cup Coach: Alexander Waibl
S: Jenna Gray (USA) S: Sarah Straube OH: Jennifer Janiska (Geerties)* OH: Lena Stigrot* OH: Lina-Marie Lieb OH: Emma Cyris MB: Madeleine Gates (USA) MB: Camilla Weitzel* MB: Monique Strubbe OPP: Naya Crittenden (USA) OPP: Maja Storck (SWZ) L: Morgan Hentz (USA) L: Lenka Durr*
This is the team we all want to watch. Can the Stanford grads make some magic here in Germany?! This team could go all the way. With Geerties and Stigrot on the left, getting the ball to Gray should be no problem. Weitzel through the middle was really crucial to Germany almost making it to Tokyo. Hentz will have to be on her game since Durr has been with the NT and is quite the veteran who will be nipping at her heels to keep on the court.

This team is quite the show of international players. I have zero clue who will start or how the team will do. All I know is that Reed and Stone were the first two players signed so I think they will be starting.

This team will live and die on August Raskie's ability to be consistent. Hopefully her time in Italy was a good training ground for this league.

I am fairly certain that Edelman and Rodriguez will start. Other than that....I'm not sure. I do think this team will be towards the top of the league again.

Not sure what to make of it, she definitely down graded in terms of play, but also the departure from her former teammates, one of them being her teammate for over 10 years(?) may be good for her

Didn’t there used to be a Swiss team that was actually good? Like competitive at the Champions League level?
