I don't know about the girls side, but we just got word from our club that the boys side has been canceled this year. Region team or USAV side? Seems an odd announcement to come from a club.

USAV side. With all the changes, we didn't have a region team this year.

I thought a big part of the model was each scouting region would be putting up a series of practices/matches with strongest local talent with intent to use that play to identify next level, which would be like super regions that would do similar. Wouldn't it make sense for them to start by putting the local series in place in an area that isn't too Covid impacted currently? That being said, there is probably an annual cycle that it is supposed to follow and who knows when they were planning to do the local stuff.

It seems, that USA basically has pooched it, again. The HPCs were cancelled because USA has held 0 tryouts, 0 camps, and is so late in the process, that there would have been HPCs with NO USA teams!! Ironically, in only 2 short days, the regions have already planned on holding a replacement event on the same date. 9 regions and looks like at over 30 teams have committed already. Tell your region to contact Florida for details. Nice job USA.

From the linked article
"In place of the 2021 HP Championship, NTDP staff is planning a five-day summer training series, July 19-23 in Anaheim, Calif., to provide a high-quality development experience for selected athletes. Invitations to athletes and families will be delivered soon."
Hmmm, interesting location choice. Could it be a hint as to who will make up the majority of the NTDP teams?

Convenient for us. It will be interesting to see who gets an invite. Still not sure how they will be able to make an informed decision on who should attend. Maybe just invite everyone that has been in the pipeline and see what sticks?

You would think the regional scouts would know their local talent pretty well and know who to talk to at the various programs.

They have all been evaluating players as part of their normal course of business and are sending those evals along to USAV.

I have not seen any scouts, other than D2 and D3, at any tournament, nor at any Qualifiers this club season. So, how have they been evaluating players during their normal course of business when there has literally been No normal course of business? PSA recruiting contact videos? Enquiring minds want to know =)

They may not have stopped but those efforts have certainly been hampered. Any video from something like Baller would only properly show one side of the court (the one closest to the camera). Plus coaches often talk about the other intangibles that they look at like; how does the player interact with their teammates, coaches, are they engaged when they are on the bench, how do their parents act? etc.
