So I've been thinking of starting this thread for some time, but didn't really have a good reason to. Now I have a reason, but it's not the greatest news.
Yesterday, I heard that Menlo College has decided to cancel their 2021 season due to COVID-19 concerns. This is in no way official. There is nothing on their website or social media and I have no idea whether men's volleyball is the only sport that is effected. I heard this from someone who heard it from someone I would consider a reliable source (a coach at another West Coast program). But that person is not someone I know personally and obviously he is not affiliated with the Menlo program. Although I didn't get the information from this person myself, I have no reason to doubt the person who told me.
Anyway, I'm posting more to see if anyone else can corroborate this news. Beyond that, if anyone has other news related to the (hopefully) upcoming NAIA season, I, for one, would love to hear it. Good news would be preferable, but I guess we'll have to take what we get at this point in time.

With the NAIA allowing autonomy to all NAIA institutions this year to decided when and if they will play. It is no surprise that a west coast school has made the decision to opt out moving forward. My guess is that they will not be the only school to opt out but i am very confident that there will still be a mens season. It may look different.... but there will be a season.

The GPAC seems to be planning to move forward. Their women’s season happened even amidst significant COVID outbreaks among schools, communities and teams. Hopefully that is good news for the Spring.

Heard the same about Menlo, and that would be a huge blow to the west coast and the GSAC, especially now that the Cal Pac has their own conference. Also saw that Masters still has not hired a coach, which is crazy.
Grand View was still showing Chapman on the roster, so if that is true, they would be the preseason favorite again.

I heard his plans were to finally make the pro leap. And even with him back, I don’t know that GV is an automatic favorite. Campbellsville spent a lot of last season at #1, Lourdes may only lose 2, and both MoBap and Park are always worth a look

I tend to give the slight edge to the team with the most dynamic player, which if Chapman is indeed returning, is Grand View.

Did a quick scan of the rosters from last year to this year, and this is what the top teams added/lost:
1. Grand View - Kept Chapman and Polanco, lost their backup setter Irizarry and their starting MB Barnes. Added a new italian OH and MB from Hawai'i. 2. Campbellsville - Kept starting Hernandez and Cruz, but lost their top OH, Ahr. Also do not have one of their better servers from last season, and a starting OPP, Radzuweit, who isn't even showing on the roster from last year. 3. Menlo - No games scheduled, and rumored to not be playing this year due to California restrictions. 4. Park - Looks like they are running it back with the same team, minus a couple of DS. 5. Missouri Baptist - Kept Iliff and Harman, but they lost their top OH, Cajic. Added some more international players. 6. Benedictine - Kept Henige, but they lost their coach and their OPP, Henson. Added local talent. 7. Lourdes - Kept Gehrke, but lost Gebert. No one notable added. 8. Vanguard - Did not have any seniors on the roster, and lost their starting Libero. Looks like a much larger roster from last season. 9. Cardinal Stritch - Kept Kessler and Andrade, and lost Sellers and a starting MB. No one notable added. 10. Aquinas - Kept Evers at libero, but lost a ton. Boothroyd, Lopez, Moothart, and Elder all gone. Basically all of their firepower. Other: Saint Xavier - Kept Gabor at OPP. Have essentially the same team. Jamestown - Honestly, my sleeper pick for the season. Lost one of their pins, in Vanags, but will now have Tanner Woods ready to play, and Zach Meyer transferred in from Concordia. Coach Salmon has got things rolling up there.

I see no reason to keep Aquinas in the top ten. Evers is solid but nothing incredible. I’m not convinced they finish in the top 3 in that league. Stretch and St X I can see - Vanguard may compete at the top - if they compete at all.

In response to the above statement. Aquinas has lost some fire power but like any great program they’ve reloaded. Definitely still a top ten team.

While Aquinas did lose 5 starters fro. Last years team, they did bring in 3 transfers that fi some of those riles nicely. Along with 3 International players with a ton of experience and a great Freshman class. I would expect very little drop off in offensive fire power, if any, and and increased presence on defense.

From what I've seen online, the Campbellsville Roster is huge. They got 30+ guys on their team I think. They're super deep this year. I would make them number one over Grand View.

Looks like 24 on their roster, with 13 of them being freshman. I am interested to see who comes in and replaces Ahr, who was their best OH last season. Looks like another couple international kids, one of which is from Germany as well, so maybe that is the replacement. Again, these are all based off the rankings from the end of last year. I don't think this is the actual top 10 at this stage.
