I’m concerned about the mental well-being of someone trying to “get” normal posters by calling them unemployed... when it is clear to everyone that’s not the case. It is very very odd behavior. Or to claim that 'everyone who voted for Trump is a racist.' Which wasn't just the comment of one lone person that doesn't represent the opinions of anyone else on this board. Can you explain how you can vote for Trump, who clearly is a racist, and not be a racist? It is a sincere question.

I'm sure the Trump fans (and closet fans) will quickly dismiss anything said by Salman Rushdie, Tony Kushner, and Claudia Rankine (and the New Yorker).
But here's an interesting 4-minute exchange from 2017 during a New Yorker Q&A

Can you explain how you can vote for Trump, who clearly is a racist, and not be a racist? It is a sincere question. I believe the NEA's position on school choice and charter schools does great harm to minorities in this country. Does this mean that the NEA and the Democratic party that is lock step in with the NEA is racist? Does it mean that everyone that votes for a Democratic candidate that has the full support of the NEA is racist? Political policy differences are usually real policy differences. Just because one segment wants to define a policy difference as 'racist', doesn't make it racist. I would consider a small % of the Trump voters to be racist. Racist people that voted for Trump no more define the vast majority of Trump voters than racist people that voted for Biden define the vast majority of Biden voters.

Are you normally such a sheep who allows himself to be lead so easily?

Why do you avoid answering direct questions? Do you believe the fact the Trump is a racist? The direct question I was asked - 'how can you vote for Trump and not be a racist' - I tried to answer. 1) People want to incorrectly imply racist motives for things that are just legitimate policy differences. 2) People want to attach and define to all voters of a candidate the worst elements of the bad people that vote for that candidate. They aren't related, voters of Trump have no control over the racist people that voted for Trump. Now you are asking a new question 'Do I believe that Trump is a racist? A don't know for sure. I kind of think he isn't a racist (I don't think it is clear that he is a racist). However, he does seem to implicitly attract racist people and he clearly doesn't go out of his way to criticize or distance from those people. I think he is totally wrong for doing this and among the many elements of him that I dislike. From a policy standpoint - the only thing that I find as potentially racist is his anti-immigration stance. But this is more of being a Nationalist than a racist. And it is one of the main policy issues I strongly disagree with him on.

That’s what makes people question your position on race.

Won’t waist my time on that other than to say, “there were good people on both sides.” There are many many examples. Just Google it.

I’m concerned about the mental well-being of someone trying to “get” normal posters by calling them unemployed... when it is clear to everyone that’s not the case. It is very very odd behavior. Which I also pushed back against and said that was very very wrong.

Ahh, yes, the old, "Of course I can see Trump is racist and of course I hear him say racist things and promote a racist agenda and yes I voted for him and support him, but gosh-darn I'm not a racist" thing.
