A good coach at ASU is going to pull some of the prospects that Kristen has been getting to go to ASU. Say what you want negatively about ASU, but a lot of 18 year olds prospects would welcome the opportunity of going to Tempe if they were more competitive. I cant imagine that there are two people less disappointed with this than Grand Canyon and Arizona who are their main competitors for athletes. You are right though. All I know about ASU is the football scandal. Not sure about anything else. And as far as why would you leave a program you built its simple. Money and credibility. Can she make more money doing camps at ASU? If Grand Canyon drops to #15 and doesn't qualify for Gulf Shores two years in a row she may now be in trouble. Get ASU into the top 15 and she would do what they have never done before. I'm a nobody but I have left a business to build a new one. Stein just left UCLA to build a new program. Also I might be biased but IMO ASU's new on-campus beach VB facilities are better than GCU's. ASU's facility opened last year and while it isn't as big as GCU's place (ASU has 4 courts while GCU has 7) and doesn't have the same fan seating, our sand in Tempe is ridiculously deep and we have various amenities at our facility that GCU does not have, such as a scoreboard.

The scoreboard at GCU would make all the difference in the world. I do not believe the facility at ASU is better though. Very little area to sit. The only time I was there they had to change the time of match because softballs would go into the courts??? The problem that I see at ASU is not the facility it is the attitude and they don't seem to care about Beach or a commitment to getting any better. To me, it seems like ASU has gotten worse at more sports than the have gotten better at. Football is worse, basketball not bad, baseball worse, lost the coach at softball and much worse, volleyball a disaster. I think they are good at golf?
Beach seems to play a lot less than everybody else so why? Are the coaches lazy, the admin cheap? They lose players to the transfer portal but don't get anybody from it. The coach left after 7 years of never being in the top twenty. In the pre-season GCU and Arizona go to California to play and ASU just stays at home and only seems to play GCU and Arizona. If they don't get a decent coach with a commitment from admin I don't see them going anywhere regardless of the conditions of the courts. They should go after Kristen Rohr but I bet they take the lazy way out. It seems to be the pattern for beach there

She is going to turn that program around. ASU could never get over the hump into top 20. She will get them top 15 in two years. Unless the administration gets in the way and doesn't let her travel and prepare. I guess we will find out if it was the coach or admin.

I guess we will find out if it was the coach or admin. Well not necessarily. Some times when there is a coaching change there is also a bump in support if the program hasn’t done well (and admin actually wants them to). I’m sure she asked some good questions about those things. Just saying when she does do better doesn’t necessarily mean it was one or the other. Former coach may have gotten everything out of it that he could have and they may have increased funding with the coaching change.

Love Pri. She should do well there. On another note, media relations people and their crazy press releases. Pri's says she helped guide Eckerd College's beach volleyball team to "two consecutive NCAA Championship podium finishes." We all know Eckerd has never made the NCAA Beach Volleyball Championships. I'd say that 9 out of 10 press releases I read about coaching hires contain both hyperbole AND complete factual errors. It seems to be the industry standard.

Maybe they won something in D2 or 3? Although I'd also question this: "She was a six-time South American Champion (2009-11)"

Eckerd is a tiny college, so I'm sure they compete at whatever the division is for small schools. Most likely they had success there. Or it's a complete fabrication.

(I actually kind of like that) Who's the best 1s,2s, etc.
