Sure. The police were outnumbered. But I looked through it and in when they could they chased down suspects. There was a scene where police could be seen chasing down a looter inside a store. There were quite a few arrests. And in no case did I see anyone assaulting police. whats the point? This went on for months and the basic policy was....let them do their thing. Compared to the damage very very few were arrested. Millions of dollars in property damage and do you know what bothers me? I didn't hear an ounce of concern for those people from any of you or the media. Then you are horrified with this incident? You post all kinds of video's and are outraged? Do you know how that must make those people feel that had their businesses destroyed? Where is the support for small business. Where was the outrage when the city of Minneapolis sent bills to all of those people charging them for clean-up after they allowed their own city to be destroyed? This shouldn't be about liberalism or conservativism. This shouldn't be about Republicans vs Democrats. This should be about fairness to all concerned. .......and then you guys just can't figure out why people are angry? really? I've been through looting. Wrong place at the wrong time (night of the first Rodney King verdict) and I wanted to get away as soon as I could. Wouldn't say it's a way of life, but It's something that happens. Looters aren't terribly political in nature. They're opportunists. Nobody loots for political reasons, and I certainly don't have any problem with looters being arrested and imprisoned. But the Capitol Building storming was a far different thing than mere opportunism. This is something that will rightly be taught in history books as an affront to our system of government.

Yes....but do know what else should be an affront to our system of government? The Democrats hiring Christopher Steele to create a narrative and the FBI helping perpetuate that. That should really cause you to be affronted. It should also alarm you that big tech,( google, facebook and twitter) all played a large role in this election in favor of one candidate. Can you imagine if they would have been for Trump and what you all would have had to say? The National Media also needs to be checked and warned because they too were collusionist in this election doing everything they could possibly do in favor of one party. You may not care about this now because it all worked out exactly that way you wanted it to poltically but don't you dare accuse the Trump camp of corruption when you have this sort of thing going on daily during Trumps tenure.

All I see here is your constant whataboutism. Especially all your comparisons that frankly don't show equivalent situations. As for Facebook/Twitter/Google - Trump has clearly over the years violated any terms of use. I've participated on forums where they would always bring down the hammer on anyone who would do things that Trump would. He never had an absolute right to use their platforms. And another affront was Trump clearly trying to use foreign relations to get dirt manufacturered for Biden.

Nobody loots for political reasons This is not entirely true. Sometimes targets are chosen (or avoided) for political reasons. The thing is, "looting" is an emotion-loaded term that has no precise objective meaning. When we sympathize with someone who, say, breaks into a store during a natural disaster and grabs food or first aid supplies or something, we tend to say they are "scrounging" or "being resourceful" or whatever. If we don't sympathize with them, we say they are "looting". There is an argument that when the poor respond to a period of civil unrest by damaging or stealing things from the rich, this is not simply theft, but a political statement about the rich having stolen from the poor, so the poor are stealing it back. Whether it is ultimately called "looting" or not usually depends on whose side you are on and how the situation ends up getting resolved. I mean, going back to everybody'd favorite example, the Boston Tea Party was looting, right?

Did anyone actually take any tea? I'd say it was just good old-fashioned terrorism.

It actually was. www.vox.com/recode/2020/6/1/21277192/target-looting-police-george-floyd-protestsTarget had a reputation for aggressive "loss prevention" strategies and a cozy relationship with police that people felt were racially biased. True? False? I don't know. But Target actually was targeted for political reasons.

Any Republican that scrubs his Facebook of the Trump family, can kiss getting elected goodbye in Nebraska. Nebraska literally just re-elected Ben Sasse. And Deb Fischer is not a Trumpbot. She doesn't believe there was widespread voter fraud and she does not condone the insurrection at the Capitol. The Nebraska Republican Party has already moved on from Trump. It would be best for you to do the same if you'd like to keep up with your state's priorities.

I'm sure there are other members of that QAnon/Parler clan out there, I mean he is represented by Taylor Greene & Boebert (and formerly King... sadly from my state). He's just wrong about Nebraska, ironically.

Deb Fisher is not far behind him. Ben said and did all the right things right before the election and then went Mitt Romney afterward. He is not popular at all.

I obviously don’t know anything about Nebraska politics so I am genuinely curious. Is he that unpopular in just Nebraska or by most republicans?

It was blatantly obvious how you viewed the police in both these situations. The police and the first riots were bad bad people. The police trying to control the crowd at the capital we’re good virtuous people. Embarrassing. And you wonder why people call you hypocrites?
