USC will continue to test the new pairings this week at Cal Poly. “The athletes are constantly changing, getting more developed,” USC coach Dain Blanton said. “We try and train all of our players to just be great volleyball players, so they can just be plugged in, if you have to block, you have to block, if you have to play D, you have to play D. You want to have that attitude that not only can I play with any other player, at any time, I can play whatever side I need to play, and whatever position as well.”

On the down side, aren't pairs that get really get in sink with one another, the pairs that play together all the time? Compared to advanced juniors, these college players don't play much together other than this short NCAA season.

UCLA had another couple of 3-2 wins.  They don’t appear very sharp in advance of tomorrow’s big clash.

I totally agree, Joy has been a different player this year in a good way.

Regarding today’s showdown, I think USC will take courts 2 , 4 and 5, but courts 1 and 3 could go to UCLA. Just my guess, but USC wins 3-2.

Should have kept Navas and Hoffman at the 4s, but I see why they did that because Harward and Hallgren had been struggling a little bit. So they thought maybe they could win at the 3's and 4's, then steal a win somewhere else.  Either way, that's an impressive beat down.  USC looks like they are completely back on track.
