Week 8 is in the books. I really like lipton's suggestion as a way to handle this. I went ahead and used Thompson's numbers in the OP slot and removed Fisher and Reardon where applicable. It ended up that it did not affect the standings, so it was not a meaningful decision here, but it sets a precedent. Thompson is a unique situation, and he has hit from the pin while playing MB this season. But he was purely playing Op this week. Here's hoping we can get through the last three weeks with no cancellations or other things that have come up this season. I got another PM about this, so I'm ammending/clarifying my post. One member messaged me that Rob was dropped in the weekly finish by this choice involving Thompson. I did say the standings were not affected, and if you look at the standings you will see that if one point is removed from Fighton and myself and that two are added to Rob the standings do not move. I really want to make one point here. This was meant to be fun. There is no prize, no cash payout to the winner, no anything, It's just a fun thing to do each week for people who are interested in all of the conferences. We've been lienient on submission timelines and even allowed for some repicks. We've had to add some rules as circumstances arose. That has been fun. I add up numbers and do a cursory check on the play by play associated with the first few points of a team's first match of the week to verify a player's posiiton and honestly don't think much of it besides entering number into an excel spreadhseet. Maybe next year we can get more intense and have severe penalties for missing deadlines and a hotline for reporting grievances. But for this last week it'd be nice to just have fun. Submit lineups this week, but it'll be the last one. VT is a getaway place to enjoy and escape some stressful aspects of life. Coming here and feeling stress over a weekly guessing game is not what it's for. So the ammendment to my post is that instead of three weeks, I'll be ending it this week. If you would like for me to go back through the weekly tallies and penalize people for late submissions, undo the times people made roster changes, and change the Thompson week 8 ruling, that's fine. But it would be so much better to end on an upbeat note that it was fun to guess each week. I genuinely enjoyed doing that week in and week out. Thanks for a fun season and good luck this last week.

WTH, there's no prize money? Since when?
Oh, and my lineup for the week is:
OH: Jackson Gilbert, NGU (CC) Op: Rado Parapunov, Hawai'i (BW) S: Btyce Dvorak, Stanford (MPSF) MB: Andrew Nielsen, Alderson Broadus (IVA)
I completely thought I'd be the only one taking Lietzke. I guess I won't be doing that after all.

I rushed to get in my line up last night figuring multiple people would be targeting him, so much that I completely forgot to look at the entire CC, doh! you should fix whether you want Lietzke or Dovorak though.

I'll stay with Dvorak. I submitted and will run with that crew. I didn't want to duplicate you and ucsdfan too much, so someone had to go. Rado is a no brainer and I was haggling between Carrillo and Gilbert, but couldn't find another OH I'd prefer over Gilbert. Stanford with five matches is a must, so Lietske was a shoe-in (Browne is the only other viable option and no way will I give up Rado for Browne). The hard part was passing on a MIVA setter or outside, but they only play two matches each week. I had Coenen, Ibarra, and Saponis on my short list, but didn't think they would have more points in two matches than Gilbert in three, even with the 1.5x multiplier.
Lietzke is the obvious choice for setter, as five matches with three of them likely to go past three sets is going to be a money maker. But I picked after you guys and felt it was best to deviate. I would have liked to take Wetter at MB, but my BW slot was spent. So the question came down to Mitchum numbers in two sweeps over Quincy, rolling with Meinhart again after failing with that last week, or taking a flyer on a freshmanwith two matches that could go 5 sets.
For all we know Kotsy may not run Lietske in all five matches, even though he's been the one player not to get platooned so far this season. He has Lui and Kelly as options for a match or two, especially when they play in Kelly's backyard.

An there is not another player on the roster that is even a semi-safe pick even with 5 matched on the books which is notable.

For fun in our last week, I'm curious what a roster of all true freshman would do against our rosters. I plan top track the following one. Watch it beat all of us, lol.
Rosich of NGU at OH Torwie of LBSU or at Opp Dvorak of Pepp at S Nielsen of Alderson Broddus at MB

Well it looks to be wrapped up. Even though there are some matches to still be played tonight and tomorrow, because three people have the same players going, they are already slotted. There is no way lipton can finish less than second place this week, which locks up the title for the season. Nice prognosticating.
With two matches to go, this week is:
FightOn! 538 (Lietzke still has a match) lipton 462 (Dvorak still has a match) wilbur 370 (Lietzke still has a match) ucsdfan 341 (Lietzke still has a match) RobOnTheMic 287 (Gianni still has a match)
Final Standings lipton 49 or 51 ucsdfan 43 wilbur 37 FightOn! 35 or 37 Robonthemic 22 eatervolley 7

I sadly couldn't keep it for the season... Sundays are rough days for me, but this has gotten me more motivated to keep watching games, so still a big win-win!

For anyone interested in a "this week only" run, submit your lineup by tomorrow (Tueday) at noon. This should be an interesting week, as it combines aspects of our league with a predict the winner element, given that it's conference playoff week for some teams.
