Concordia fell apart, from serve receive to the service line. Disappointing.

The difference (besides Wickens playing out of his mind) came from Pepperdine's serves and the fact that they had three liberos on the court all night. Concordia couldn't put a ball down against that defense and Hoppe's spectacular offense doesn't make up for his bad passing.

Perez isn't listed on the roster. He graduated Perez was a freshman last year. I think you may be thinking of another kid.

Cole and Wickens = east coasters, coach's kids, gym rats and both got game.
Putting a 5'11 (at best) East Coast kid out on the pin on an elite DI program makes me laugh thinking of how many college coaches couldn't even entertain that thought or concept.
Hunt = 👀 👍

I thought he set a good match overall considering he is a freshman in his first game. Pepp put service preasure on at the right times, Akin especially. CI, the opposite. Home court probably helped, next match will be interesting.

Perez was a freshman last year. I think you may be thinking of another kid. You’re right, Hunt made a comment in an interview about the players Pep lost this year and when referring to Perez said something to the effect that he had moved on with his life to the next stage.... I misinterpreted that as graduated.

Three East Coast Kids, two of them Freshmen, all starting for the first time. A good win for a young team against a veteran Concordia Team. Props to coach for starting those guys.

Pepperdine was fun to watch. Akin can just unload and it was good to see him gain a little control of his serve in that 4th set.
Pep’s weak spot is most definitely in the middle, both the block and the offense. The connection with both setters seemed strained and way too many tip attacks. Wickens, Dvorak and Akin were all doing a good job of setting the block location on the pin, but neither middle was getting to the pin quick enough to close it. The great back row play helped to disguise the block issue, but I think we may see new faces in the middle going forward as Hunt experiments in the middle.

Hunt = 👀 👍 Couldn’t agree more, athleticism needs to be the precursor for a solid Outside Hitter. I know height looks great at first glance but idk how many taller athletes/future recruits I’ve seen that don’t have an ounce of dynamic ability in their bones. Was only able to catch clips of this game so I’m excited to see what the full match looked like.

One of them being Wickens who was lights out at OH. Who saw that coming? Wednesday I expect to see changes in the lineup for Pepp and most importantly I can’t wait to watch a game LIVE!
