Still planning to be at the scrimmage on Saturday. Thank goodness it’s indoors. Who knew major thunderstorms would make the smoke situation even worse. Nice to see Whitney Llarenas featured in the Twitter release. I hope we get to see most if not all of the freshmen this year.

Yep, I thought Llarenas did very well when given the opportunity last year. I am really glad BYU has her--if not on game day, in practices as well. There is no doubt in my mind she makes the gym better. If we can just put together a consistent back row (defense and passing), this team could be very very fun to watch. I am with Zazu, always fun to finally see the freshman in blue!

She’s playing, but was announced as a reserve for the blue team at the start.

How is Ballard-Nixon looking? Pretty good. She had three consecutive aces at one point. She's playing with all the other probable starters in the third set.

It looks like all the likely starters are playing together in the third set, as some have switched teams after the second set. They are:
OH: Ballard-Nixon OH: Livingston MB: Eschenberg MB: Gneiting OPP: Koerber S: Bower L: Allen DS: McComber

I just got home from the scrimmage. I was mostly paying attention to the new players. Koerber looked great. There was a brief scare where she went down for a minute or so, and she came out of the match for a few points, but then she came back in and looked fine. Gneiting also looked very good. Among the freshmen, I thought that Callahan looked the best. She had some nice hard swings and a couple of very high tips that were more effective than I would have expected. Stowell, Albright and Meyer also looked pretty good. Meyer in particular looked very athletic, contributing in a lot of different ways.
