Fayad has been a major liability for San Diego in this match. They will be much better with Lukes.

19-18 Broncos T/O -- SCU lead cut to 1
Looked like San Diego was going to take the lead 20-19, but a replay overruled that and Santa Clara took 2 more.
22-19 Broncos -- Final T/O San Diego

Lukes and Benbow can't come back quick enough. Fayad is truly a liability. Wonder when they will be cleared?

25-20 Santa Clara rainbow super-short serve forces an overpass and they take the set.
All tied up at 1 set a piece.
16-9 USD in the 3rd set.

Shaffer and Kantor not listed as starters for Santa Clara. Hmmm. Just pulled up the broadcast so not sure if they are available or not. Kantor graduated last year. It looks like Light is setting a 5-1 and they are using Shaffer as a double sub late in each set. Interesting. No front row hitting, so maybe she's slightly injured, but perhaps they have so many new players, they are trying them all out. Sangiacomo seems like she's playing very tentatively. Hitting gently or into the block, and not taking the smart shots. She needs to get her confidence back! Tulino is playing really well and making smart plays for a freshman.

I thought Kantor might return since she still had a year of eligibility. Didn't notice she wasn't on the roster.

Santa Clara actually looks better than I expected with only 3 weeks on campus. And they appear to have most of the roster available to play. I count 6 fully dressed out bench players, compared to San Diego's 2.

Santa Clara’s court design leaves a lot to be desired. And by “a lot,” I mean...less. Ugly floor.................they are trying to copy oregon
