Will the waves have anything left in the tank for Baylor in 4 days? Well, it's the first weekend Baylor is playing this spring. I didn't see a team that looked that great out of the gates. If Pep can bring back the Friday magic Baylor will certainly have their hands full.

Pepperdine is the better team. They might be. They definitely were better across eight sets. But the wins each count the same as far as the selection committee is concerned.

I still wonder if there will be sympathy for 'good' 5-set losses or criticism for 'poor' 5-set wins. This hasn't happened in the past, but without much to measure teams on, it will be interesting to consider.

I also kind of get the feeling that teams and conferences with winning histories may get more benefit of the doubt than normal. As far as this match is concerned, I think Pepperdine is really good, so I think BYU will be given credit for pulling a win out on the road. I was pretty skeptical that Pepperdine was that much better than BYU after last night. Blowouts in single games of close seven-game series in other sports are common.

What was the call on that play (I think in the fifth set) where Grimmer hit a ball over that Brown touched and tried to pop up and then she fell down...it initially looked like it was a BYU point but they called it for Pepp. Anyone know what I’m talking about?

Good Win by BYU...but no way this is the #12 team in the land! You're right, more like top five...

As good as Rachel is, she went radio silent in the fourth set which really hurt. Also, Pep needs more production from the OPP spot. Haven’t looked at stats yet, but Emma was non existent. Wong probably wants her on the court to grow into that position, but they have three great middles (Alli, Rosie, Meg) and I’d like to see one of them on the right. Also one too many low trap sets in the fourth set for Pep. I think BYU won the setting matchup tonight. Pep needs to work on the joust. BYUs little setter won 4 of them tonight vs 6’2 on Peps side.

Rosie Ballo brought in a lot of firepower for Pepperdine. She hit some bombs in the middle

How does San Diego compare to these teams?? Hard to say until they play each other. San Diego was the preseason favorite. My guess is they are the best team in the WCC, but we'll see.

Bower makes BYUs passing appear to be much better than it is...never more evident than tonight. For BYU to win passing the way it did...and with its OH1 playing bad was very impressive and fortunate. I give BYUs young hitters Livingston and Dodson a lot of credit for making big plays...pulling for the Waves over the Bears!!!
