Comments/Disclaimers/Thoughts:
-Top 4 teams in B1G, PAC placed in separate regionals. -Teams from the same conference are guaranteed not to meet until the Regional Finals. This results in adjusted seeds from top through the bottom, preferring to adjust the lower ranked team before adjusting the higher ranked team if possible. Small movements can easily be justified. -Kentucky/Texas could be a toss-up. I went with UK, better loss, though 4x Baylor wins could give Texas the edge. -Washington/Oregon is a toss-up as well. Washington has the worse loss, but has 2 more victories (over Utah, as well). I could see this going either way. Washington State really isn't separated by much either. Tough to figure out things in the Top 3 in the PAC. -Ohio St./Purdue could easily be switched -- neither can be #12/#13 for avoiding a potential Reg. Semi with #5 Minnesota. -The automatic qualifier seedings are mostly based on RPI precedence, particularly 2019, with slight adjustments. It is hard for me to see the committee delving deep into which AQ's are *better* than others, given many AQ's won't be determined until less than 24 hours prior to Selection Sunday. AQ's projected here are not necessarily the top-seed or favorites in their conference tournaments. -The ACC teams/WCC #3(San Diego)/SEC#3 (Mizzou/Arkansas/Tennessee) are all my biggest question marks in the at-large department. I have Rice in for now with Western Kentucky projected to win the conference, and that had to knock at least someone else out. The ACC's worst in standing team (Florida State) has a big win over UCF. That could be a difference maker when conferences chose to play conference-only. The ACC results are very hard to distinguish between, they are all sort of keeping each other in the tournament. -This post will be updated Saturday night after all matches conclude to give a Final prediction.

I, too, wanted USC in at least the next 4 out. Two wins against Colorado might get us #6 PAC, first PAC team out of the tournament. Unfortunately, who knows if we even have a team to put on the court next week vs. Colorado.

Wisconsin-Florida wouldn't be the same without Rhamat Alhassan.

(7) Nebraska* vs. (Winner of #26 Georgia Tech* vs. #39 High Point) This is what I get for saying all those things about High Point.

How do you come up with this stuff? And how accurate has it been in the past? Would love to know more about the process as someone new.

Also...Kentucky against Nebraska again!! Skinner and Lilley just can’t get away from the Huskers (except for last year).

But the NCAA has rules about driving/flying to set up matches and criteria for selecting teams. Once you know the rules and criteria, you can pretty accurately predict who will get in and how the matches will be set up. But that requires and out-of-conference slate of matches that didn’t happen this year.

How do you come up with this stuff? And how accurate has it been in the past? Would love to know more about the process as someone new. This will be the 9th edition but this one is unique. Like the fantasy league, I am considering taking an asterisk. (half kidding). I base it on historic committee decisions and obviously using their selection criteria - heavy on RPI. There is effectively no legitimate RPI or selection measurement tools, so this is an educated guess based on # of at large bids by conferences in the past and seeds. -Previous 8 years: Missed on 7 at-large bids, and on 10 seeded teams that did not end up seeded. This year, the seeds are less important because they don't host regionals, but #16 will not play a 1st round match, while #17 will. -Last year the misses were Virginia Commonwealth (I had them in the first 4 out) over California, Purdue got a seed over Marquette, and Western Kentucky got a seed over Rice. There was another poster who has mostly disappeared from the volleyball side of the board who projected brackets pretty accurately with me, usually splitting the difference. Last year, we agreed on the at-larges, and he had both BYU and Utah seeded last year, where WKU got the seed over Utah. He also had Marquette seeded instead of Purdue.

-Ohio St./Purdue could easily be switched -- neither can be #12/#13 for avoiding a potential Reg. Semi with #5 Minnesota. That's what I was thinking on first glance. Those 2 h2h wins this weekend should put Purdue ahead of OSU, despite the 2 extra losses.
