I just don't get being in the portal and playing. It's one thing to know a player will be moving on, but it's another thing if she's being distracted by taking calls from other coaches, evaluating other programs you are playing against.... I completely disagree. They're playing in April. If they want to be at a different school in August they are already way late compared to any other year. I think it speaks to a high maturity to have a player say "I would like to play somewhere else next year and need to get that ball rolling, but I made a commitment to this team for this season and will play hard all the way through." As a coach, I’d rather the players who have committed to being with me in the fall get some tourney experience. Obv grad transferring is different, and you can’t hold that decision against a player, but regular transfers announcing the intent to transfer before the season is done feels weird. At the same time, I get that this year isn’t like other years. Clock is ticking on both sides.

High level volleyball players are consistently less petty than VT posters. I think it's smart for the individual player. I don't know how you can argue it's good for team chemistry, though.

I definitely agree that it's not good for team chemistry. I would hope they would be spending this tournament with their current team and not fielding any recruiting conversations until after they are done playing. Being conflicted would make them play worse and lower their stock anyways. Having their name in the portal now is important though so the school that they want to go to doesn't offer to someone else who isn't playing this week because they now know they have a shot at a better player.

Lol. Even on that OOS play, giving Juhnke an empty net ain't great.

Pretending like no one is going to make 2nd contact is a good strategy to get a swing without blockers for an easy kill, but I doubt that will work all match.
