So we have 17 on the squad for fall
S: Brown, Bruder , Mosher
OH: Terry, Bruna, Nunge,
MB: Collins, Hinton, Swanson, Bingham
OPP: Cooney,
L/DS: Kuper, Barnes, Sakoda
Gregus, Whittington & Holzman are all question marks due to injuries last year. Hopefully they are all healthy. I know Holzman is dressed with knee pads on but NOT a chance she is playing only 3 months out from ACL surgery. Im glad she is at least in the gym and with the team. We seem to get bit by the injury bug a lot. DeBruler, Dorn, Stadick, Roustio, Prince, etc.

So we can split the difference at 4 months. Was it a complete tear requiring a total reconstruction or a partial tear which isnt as drastic as a surgery.? Even if she was recovering faster than normal she would be playing in a CTI brace for additional support. Just happy to see her looking healthy and with the team. |

As fans we get so little information about the team during the offseason that whenever we get content we're left to make inferences to fill in the blanks. Since Bruna wasn't pictured, videographer was one possible explanation, albeit an unlikely one. Someone in the thread suggested she's visiting family and that seems plausible. We won't have to wait much longer before we get to see them in action! Hopefully they'll do an Orange and Blue scrimmage like pre-covid times. |

Enjoyed listening to Coach Tamas' interview on "Sportstalk". He is such a knowledgeable coach with deep ties to USA volleyball. This is that time of year for all volleyball teams and fans to be optimistic about the upcoming collegiate season. On top of that, how special is it for Illinois fans to be able to watch the U.S. Olympic team with Jordyn, Bartschy, and Coach Erin compete so well in the Olympics? Go Illini! Go USA! |

I expect Illini to squeeze into Big Ten’s elite five this season. Illini played very tough schedule last year. All losses were to very good teams. They return everybody!

I stayed up past midnight to watch the women's USA Olympic team sweep #1 China. It was so exciting to watch Bartsch and Poulter playing together and representing the United States. They are now 6-0 in their pool. Go USA! Go Illni!

Last year we played three six rotation players. By the end of the year we were beginning to develop an effective back row attack. Bruna in particular appeared to improve her attacks from the right back. Raina also appears to be well on her way to being effective from the back row. With two new DSs on the roster, including a young Barnes, do we return to a more traditional use of DSs? Is either freshman capable of stepping in and playing B1G defense? Sophie Gregus? I still recall how Brandi Donnelly stepped in as a freshman.
