I find it funny how that Kuper just made 1st team in the toughest conference and some people think a freshman is going to come in and perform like her right off the bat. You have to recognize that a top SPRI Libero isn’t going to sit back on a team and DS for 2 years waiting for an upper classman to graduate. Those top players aren’t wired like that, especially if they were recruited with the promise of being the Libero. Barnes will have options if she can’t be the Libero at Illinois.... Barnes left SPRI to go to Adversity after being captain on SPRI for two years. That's a questionable move.

Adversity’s two top18s teams got open bids. The team Barnes is on won two qualifiers in a row. Not sure why anyone is questioning them. Both 18s teams have also played and beaten SPRY 18 elite.

I was referring to the difference between middle hitters and middle blockers. Never thought my tongue-in-cheek comment about roster nomenclature would get such erudite and thoughtful responses. This is why I treasure this thread and will miss the activity over the off season.

If you read a Butler thread you may get an explanation why some players might leave SPRI. Of course, I have absolutely no idea why she changed clubs. Lots of drama up there.

Barnes is also sharing that LIB spot on that adversity team. She shares time with the NIU recruit, that should tell you she's not as elite as everyone thinks she may be. She will be a good addition but I dont think she is elite just yet.

I think our L/DS core looks good for the next few years - Kuper, Eske, Chi ( if she comes back), Barnes & the girl from HI. Throw in Gregus who looked great in serve/pass in the scrimmage last year. Healthy competition in the gym makes everyone step their game up. But we do need some OH depth just in case.

Rodriquez finished her club career at Fusion with the Borum sisters

Spri is so limited to JVA and aau.

Kylie Bruder is returning for another season. She'll add depth and leadership in the backrow.

Great news- Kylie stepped up in the 6-2 and was a reliable serving specialist this season. Glad to have her back! Never hurts to have one of the best servers come back for another year. Honestly tho I hope she doesn't play as much. I think we can all tell this team is at it's best running the 5-1 with Brown as setter. Especially with Cooney coming back and Bruna showing signs of maturing in her all-around game, late this season. Another year of development with Collins in the Middle and hopefully Whittington can be healthy and provide some depth after spending a year in the program. Wonder if any freshman will make an impact like Bingham and Mosher. We're really beginning the run on the incoming freshman being Tamas' recruits. While the pass couple classes have been his, this coaching staff had to catch up in the recruiting calendar the past couple years.

While the pass couple classes have been his, this coaching staff had to catch up in the recruiting calendar the past couple years. One aspect of Bruder's return is that we keep our three setter depth in 2021. I don't know what to expect in terms of who will get playing time this fall but if Brown keeps her spot setting a 5-1, it would be cool if Mosher sees the court as a pin hitter. With Bruder and Brown setting in the practice gym, that could free up Mosher to practice as a pin. *But this is all just me spitballing and putting the cart before the horse as I don't know what a practice looks like, how that setting competition will go, what system Tamas will go with, etc. It's fun to play the guessing game, though, and having Kylie back gives us some options.
