I've just watched the game. Congrats to Pittsburgh. They played above their talent level.
There were some transitions plays by Pitts when OH covered the tip coming from position 4 to 3 and then hit the ball...Professional level training. Well coached.
Nwokolo was the best middle on the court, I hope she goes to play pro after college.
Shaffmaster was the worst setter on the court. She is very tall but not physical. Her contact point with the ball while setting is not high at all. Plus she is slow, not the greatest hands. Both Pitt's setters overplayed her. Even Lund's OOS setting was better to me lol.
Hugh should consider some changes, maybe slowing down the offense a bit and let hitters bounce the ball more. It's been a long time without any significant success.

Don't know if slowing things down anymore is possible...

So making it to the final four last year is not "significant" success? I do agree that Hugh should consider some changes, but I'm thinking that it's the passing that has limited them.

I had to have dinner and some wine before I posted here. I haven't read most of your comments yet. What I saw was Shafmaster having a bad night. Way too many tight sets. Sure, blame the passing (I assume somebody has been doing that) but the passing was not that much worse than what we have had this season, maybe better. There was just too many tight sets against a good defensive team. Also, there was a lack of fire - I don't know how to describe it. Pitt was very good. Pitt did a decent job on Samedy and as you pointed out they did seem to struggle to find that next gear. Slow. Feel bad for Pittman who is a wonderful player and a person.

Have a look in the mirror. Your obsession with me is gross. No. Just giving you a taste of your own medicine. Here's a hint: Disagree with others on VT all you like, but don't be a prick.

Congrats to Pitt. Sorry to Gopher fans. I don't think Samedy will be back, since I think a lot of clubs will be rightly interested in paying her money to play volleyball. That said, I do think Wenaas will find her way as a hitter, and Shaffmaster will get better with middle connections, with or without Pittman, so I don't see the Gophers going away as a very good program any time soon. I agree about samedy. I think pro teams will throw money at her and she will be in pros next year.
