Were they passing with 2 when Miyabe was backrow or did Wenaas come back to pass and pinch her a bunch? Miyabe was passing 3/4ths of the time, until they moved her out when she struggled a couple times. She did fairly well, considering her lack of reps during the season. Not sure how that will hold up against Stanford.

I have to say I am a bit nervous of the game tonight vs. Stanford, without CC. But we will be there to cheer our Gophers and send them out to Madison.

Gophers have good experience the last couple years dealing with problems like this... suddenly missing key players. Having said that, I really HATE the idea of playing the postseason without CC Even more so the way she's been playing.

In actuality, they're down two starters (I count Landfair), and Landfair's replacement is hobbling a bit now. Even if we happen to squeak by Stanford, Baylor is waiting in five days, and CC will likely still not be available. MN fans have had a disappointing last three seasons in regard to healthy rosters. I too will be there tonight cheering regardless.

OKay..can we start SPECULATING should Miyabe not be able to play this evening? Are we seeing the pressure for these players becoming too much for some to handle at critical times? I for one think we might be.
It got a little rough last night at times, but considering the circumstance Miyabe did great. Once again being asked to contribute in ways she has not had to do all season.
The only two players on the bench that are available and HUGH WOULD PUT IN are probably Rubright and McMen. I don't feel Glenn can handle the pressure and that is why we have seen very little of her most of this season. When we have, it hasn't been for too many plays.
Has Rubright or Husemann played OH? If not, then the only other player is Shaff and that would mean McMen would be setting.

Just feel like this is another lost season as far as the NCAAs go. I really believe the Gophers would have beaten Pitt in the regional semis this past spring with CC playing and here we are again.

They can gut it out tonight vs Stanford. Important win for the program, in a historical revenge way.
Beyond that, obviously may just have to take whatever we can get.
Go Gophers!!

Good Grief
CC went down in the first Ill match and the Gophers went on to win ALL of their remaining matches this spring save the loss to Wisconsin.
Kipp is a terminator on the right. Good block touches are required. Baird the same on the left. If she goes inside to avoid the block I don't see a huge difference in dig-ability.
The sky is not falling.

Not sure why you think the pressure might be getting to Miyabe when she just played a solid first round match, got injured, and came back to finish out the game. That doesn't seem like someone overwhelmed by the pressure to me. That being said, I am interested to see what tonight's lineup will look like.

To me, the concern isn't CC being out (although that is big) but rather who takes Kilkelly's spot in the back row. Last spring, they had Rollins and Wenaas. They don't have that luxury this fall. Maybe Glenn steps up? And, the chemistry in the back row is affected. Saw that last night. Hope MN can pull it out.

I thought Glenn played with ease last night. I really wanted to see her stay in the game a bit longer to see her serve, but alas. Miyabe's play was a bit more tentative when she returned, meaning she couldn't bend her knee as much. Like mcmike mentioned, it will interesting to see tonight's lineup.

Suppose it has to be Glenn. Has Skylar Gray played at all this year? She's really the only option.
I wish our roster was larger. With a couple injuries and three players who haven't seen court time, just feels so thin. Miyabe's been a great super sub at all positions these last couple years now she's a starter so she can't be the answer.

With no CC I feel that the U's only shot is if Stanford brings their C game. The drop-off from CC to Rachel is too much. The injury gods have not been kind to the Gophs the past few years.

I rewatched the game just now. I do think that Glen passed and covered well. Maybe they will play her more. Another possibility is using Rubright as a blocking sub for Miyabe in the front row. That would reduce the number of jumps on that leg and help us side out.
