Whole lot of setters there. Isn't Mitrovich still a setter too? Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Right? And you have to assume that they are going to bring in a grad transfer setter because I don’t see them putting all their eggs into a freshman basket?

Yes that's too many setters, but we all know one of them will end up transferring out after they never get to play. But that's sort of the programs fault for not having balanced recruiting classes.

Also kind of the recruits. You know what you are signing up for when you commit. If they had shopped the portal that is different, but you commit knowing what the roster looks like in front of you.

Zoe is a great pick up. She is a setter but also likes to hit...so she is one of those multi position players Joe likes. She is a good pickup to an already good 2023 class...
I wouldnt count on any setters being on the roster next year other than the 2 freshman. Maylen is still a question mark....
So in 2023 setter wise, I feel confident we will have Babic, Bostic, and Zoe. Grad transfer for 2022 will just be until the freshies get their college feet under them. Babisc is the future of the UNC team setting wise and maybe Bostic if they have weapons for a 6-2
As much as the coaching staff struggles to develop players, i have to give them credit. They are bringing in a star studded 2022 class and 2023 may shape up to be a second consecutive highly rated class.

Game Day, too nervous for 5pm.
Hoping our seniors get a god tournament experience and would LOVE to beat Eve and Tyler.

If Eve wins does she get our heading coaching job?
Kidding. But not.

Better season for the ladies at UNC and great to see some great recruits coming in BUT does the cycle continue with bringing in grad transfers for a year and not developing the skills of the talent they have?
My thoughts - Does anyone have access to the stats comparing our blocking to previous years… my guess is it is down considerably? - Having a short setter on 5-1 is losing us way too many points per set and effects momentum. Get taller setters or run a 6-2 - Even when Zinger was healthy, coaches limited our attack to mostly left side with the occasional slide for Merkler or Phegley - Having OH bang as hard as they can on most all balls is also not effective nor smart - curious, did this lead to the stat of us being blocked more this season than in past too (predictable offence)? - It was good to see the wins this season - looking forward to next season

Disappointing loss to the season.....seems that the recurring theme of this team is to start sets strong then allow big runs from the opponent in the middle of the set and by then when we claw back, it is too late. We had no answer for the outsides of Tennessee and our reception was uncharacteristic. I thought Neelon had a rough game setting way too low and tight and Nia also had a rough game. Mabrey had 18 kills but 14 errors. Just an off game which cannot happen in the tourney.
As mentioned above, while glad we surpassed 20 wins and got back in the tourney, I am not impressed with the transfer philosophy. Do i think we need a grad transfer setter and hitter, yes. I think we need that for one year until the freshman get used to college. I do not think we need a setter or hitter that has multiple years of eligibility, esp if your future is with your incoming recruits....
With that being said, I am proud of the team and look forward to next season. We finally get a spring to train and a very talented group coming in. I will be posting the new 2022 UNC Thread in the coming week or so as there will be some news floating around.
