This will be another losing season. I stopped following UNC once Scoles and everyone left. I don't see anything good coming up in UNC future.

The top 4 still look like the top 4. Syracuse lists their stars coming back, and FSU should be good to very good depending on who comes back. That makes a top 6 finish a stretch.

Everyone get off the negativity train - you have a whole bunch of new people coming in, a returning roster that SHOULD be better than last year and some depth to play with. Some new setter talent coming in, some new people that can swing and some returners that can too - some middles returning that can terminate and lots and lots of LD/S. Let’s see what shakes up before we write these guys off. New year, new Attitude and no more Covid bubbles will make a huge difference.

Let’s see what shakes up before we write these guys off. New year, new Attitude and no more Covid bubbles will make a huge difference. I think for me it's not just been the record since 2017 (47-54) but the way it all happened. 2016 29-4 Sweet 16 then the wheels absolutely fell off. 2017 was an injury riddled year so that just a tough break. Then Eve and Co leave and the transfers start. 8-19 2018 but UNC still was getting top talent each year but they were leaving as fast as they were coming in. 15-13 2019, then covid hits. They still get good recruiting classes but not a ton of development. They will have like 4 setters on the roster this year... two more coming in next year. Shaffmaster is very very good and... has a great arm and has been playing 18s for like last 20 years. BUT she if very heavy footed and has a very awkward gait (knock knee). To the point that some college coaches were worried about her long term durability. I know everyone says on this thread that UNC admins don't care about volleyball but if they go just above or below .500 over the next 2 years I have to believe they might make a move. Look at the current ACC schools at the top. Pitt - Younger staff, LOU- Younger Staff. ND - Younger Staff, GT - Younger Staff. All of these head coaches have been at their schools for 7 years or less and have improved them a bunch.

North Carolina just posted for a Volunteer Assistant in the jobs thread - looks like Kiki will not be returning this year as many of the athletes hoped.

If the staff cant help UNC jump back up this year, then there has to be changes. Way too much talent with the returning players, transfers, and freshman. You have your entire core from last year, a very solid transfer in Robinson, a freshman stud in Shaffmaster, and Parker Austin who has trained internationally this summer. Team looked good in spring until injury bug. Lets see what happens now since we finally have depth and athleticism. Kiki had all kinds of visa issues trying to get back due to COVID. She was liked more than anyone other than Mike. Hate to see her go, wish she could replace Susan...
Not saying we win the ACC, but we have pieces to battle with the top teams. Heck, we beat Notre Dame with middles playing outside! A top 5 finish while a stretch, needs to happen this year.
The CSU match should be a good measuring stick as to where we are aa they are a perennial NCAAT and challenge a lot of P5 teams. Also eying an entertaining and very anticipated SEC match possibly....

Maybe UNC will have a losing season this year. I do not know. I did look up their record in the most recent season and it was a winning record. It wasn't a great record but it wasn't a losing record.
It is also true, as noted above, that some top teams in the ACC have younger coaching staffs than UNC. It is also true, however, that some of the top teams in the country have older coaching staffs and that ACC teams weaker than UNC have younger coaching staffs. I doubt that age is the key factor for UNC's situation and prospects.
